Causes: Chambers of Commerce & Business Leagues
Mission: This organization's primary purpose is to further the common interest of its members and of the ocean liner carrier industry in fostering and serving foreign commerce with the approval of the federal maritime commission. Tsa performs record keeping and keeps minutes on behalf of its members, who are engaged principally in the transportation of cargo.
Programs: Over the course of the year 2017, tsa continued its regular consultations and meetings with government authorities in various asian countries, including india, china, hong kong, taiwan, sri lanka, malaysia, and singapore, with regard to prospective legislation being considered in each country that would affect the operations of agreements such as tsa. During these meetings, tsa representatives provided factual input and data, as well as answering questions, and also briefed each government authority on the current status of such legislation in other countries.
tsa continued with its program of contact and discussion with the federal maritime commission, which is the u. S. Government agency that is responsible for overseeing the activities of agreements such as the tsa. In addition to the two regularly scheduled meetings in may and november, tsa was in frequent contact and communication with the fmc throughout the year as and when needed on specific issues.
tsa continued to produce reports and statistics on cargo flows, demand and supply for containerized shipping, and general revenue and rate trends in the transpacific trade, as well as keeping its members updated on general economic, regulatory and operational developments in the transpacific shipping industry.
