Neighsavers is a fantastic rescue. Thank God for them. How many horses would have fallen off the map and into desperate situations haD it not been for the networking skills and contacts. God bless the many hands that care for the horses, who nurse them back to health. God bless the donors that keep the operation going.

I've been following Neigh Savers for several years. As an owner of an OTTB and knowing many people in the racing industry; I am so happy to see the networking opportunities that have come available because of Neigh Savers and their tireless work with race tracks, owners and trainers in California to re-home retired TB's. So many horses have benefited from their programs. They are highly involved in the promotion of the TB and offer so many wonderful opportunities for the public and potential adopters to be involved in their world. Neigh Savers is a blessing for the horses and their owners and I encourage everyone that is interested to check out Neigh Savers and support their great work.
I have a great respect and admiration for Neigh Savers dedication and compassion to giving off the track TB's a 2nd chance, a chance so many of them deserve. Please recognize their rescue foundation as so many of us have.
I'm a small time thoroughbred horse owner and breeder. Neigh Savers does what the name implies they save horses from auctions for slaughter. thank you Neigh Savers.
Great rescue with a great reputation for working with local tracks and rehabilitating horses. I board my horse at the barn where several Neigh Savers horses are trained and cared for. They do an excellent jobs finding these great horses forever homes.
I adopted a Neigh Savers TB almost 3 years ago. It is a wonderful non-profit that is so deserving of this recognition.
Neigh Savers Foundation has been a labor of love, determination and a lot of patience. Karin Wagner has that special spunky personality that keeps the determination flowing in most creative ways.
It takes a very strong, special person to accomplish this dream to save these beautiful animals and give them a second chance in life.
We have recently begun working with Neigh Savers and I am consistently impressed with their professionalism, dedication and positive attitude in the world of animal rescue. This can be a heart-wrenching arena to involve yourself in but Karin and her team of volunteers focus on the animals and the small steps that can be taken on their behalf that result in life-changing results for both the animals and those that share in their second chance.
I am an animal lover. Neigh Savers is a wonderful organization dedicated to helpless, needy ex-racehorses. It is a shame what can become of a beautiful thoroughbred once their "usefulness" is used up. Neigh Savers tries to help rehab them and find each one of them a forever home. It is a daunting task, one they have taken on seriously and with great responsibility. I am in awe of Neigh Savers and wish I could do more to help a much needed organization. Neigh Savers needs more recognition and national exposure to obtain more funding and assistance.
Neigh Savers founder, Karin, has dedicated her soul to the love of ex-racehorses. She wants only the best for them, and will give them any and every possible chance to have a happy and healthy full life. Even the horses still waiting to be adopted, get pampered with stall shavings up to their knees, professional groomers that get them out daily and make them sparkle from nose to toes before and after daily turn-outs. I adopted a mare (Blame Rome) from Neigh Savers after researching several other Thoroughbred rescue organizations. Karin and her volunteers went way above and beyond my expectations, starting from finding the perfect horse for my wants and needs, to helping me with farrier and vet bills when she was badly injured from getting kicked by one of my other horses even months after I purchased her. I highly recommend Neigh Savers, and I just wish I could adopt more horses.
I think that this organization is awesome! They take in the broken, the needy, the helpless and they always seem to restore every single soul. They are all remarkable people who love for the life of a horse is more important than if they even eat themselves. This is one of the most worthy foundations that I have come across in years and I just want to vote to help them because the work they do is all about "helping" to heal the injured, the neglected, the lost of the soul and they should be commended for the actions that they do every single day. Thank you.
This organization steps in to take care of horses that have little to no hope left and they rehabilitate and train these animals for a long happy life with a forever home. I have worked with this group both as a client (mare and foal adopted ) and as a donor and I wish I could do more. They are very deserving of any support.
Neigh Savers is a fantastic organization focused on rescuing and rehoming OTTB's. They work with local organizations and barns to ensure the horses are being humanely treated and trained and the adoptive families are throughly screened to ensure these awesome animals have great long time homes.
Neigh Savers does a fantastic job of promoting the positive aspects of the racing industry as well as the positive aspects of the value of horse ownership.
I follow Neigh Savers on Facebook and am impressed with their dedication to these beautiful and trusting animals.
Adopting an animal is often as challenging as it is rewarding, especially when it comes to horses. It is thanks to diligent, discerning rescues, like Neigh Savers, that "off the track thoroughbreds" (OTTB) find their new forever homes, and are saved from the confusion and heart-ache of being bounced around into the wrong hands. Neigh Savers allows horses fresh from the track the time and space needed to decompress before retraining them. The volunteers and trainers get to know each horse individually through and through, and keep the public updated online with their milestones, quirks and ambitions, and work closely with potential adopters to ensure a great match. As a top notch rescue, Neigh Savers is a gift to horses and horse people alike.
I have been watching this organization for awhile on Facebook and their website. I am completely impressed with their set up and how dedicated they are to rehoming these amazing horses. I worked on racetracks when I was younger and it always broke my heart to see these wonderful horses simply 'thrown away' when they couldn't race anymore. By giving them a second chance through proper training and evaluation and careful placement they truly are saving their lives. I am currently working with them on possibly adopting one of their horses and can't wait to continue working with them. They are angels.
Neigh Savers is an outstanding group of individuals who dedicate so much of their time to helping horses recover from minor and severe physical injury to psychological issues cause by the stresses of racing, training techniques, and the lack of horse-to-horse bonding. The volunteers become so connected to each individual horse, that even after meticulous details are smoothed out, watching that horse leave in the trailer for their forever home with their new owner(s), never gets easier- but the joy it brings them, keeps them pushing forward to help the next horse in need.
I have seen first hand the amazing work and tireless dedication the workers, volunteers and foster homes of Neigh Savers do on an ongoing and daily basis as I boarded my own horse at a barn in Somis where two of these ladies were compassionately fostering and caring for resued horses, rehabilitating and finding them new loving homes!! They are truly dedicated to a compassionate cause for rescuing neglected, abused, and abandoned horses!!!❤❤❤
A wonderful thoughtful and smart organization that remembers racing Thoroughbreds deserve a second chance. Following through on rehabbing, retraining, and rehoming to safe, healthy, forever homes.
great thing they do for ottb...I own a ottb and love him dearly...can only image the smiles they have brought to other peoples faces with this program they have
I have been volunteering with Neigh Savers for just over two years. I've had a fabulous time getting to know all the volunteers and getting to meet and work with so many fantastic horses. We've greatly increased the amount of horses we are able to help each year since I started and I'm very proud of that. I couldn't think of a better organization to volunteer for.
They save horses everyday. There is no greater duty than speaking and saving those that cannot speak for themselves or save themselves. Neigh Savers works hard and gives of themselves everyday for horses.
I have only just started volunteering with Neigh Savers, but I am already so impressed with the work that they do and the dignity they give these horses. Please help them continue the work they do!
Neigh Savers is an amazing organization that gives off-track Thoroughbreds a second chance at living. They take horses that can be retrained, rehomed, or need to go through rehabilitation and turn them into amazing equine partners either as pasture ornaments or competitive athletes in a variety of disciplines. Very impressed by their dedication, and ability to place so many horses in such a short period of time!
I have supported Neigh Savers since its founding, and I feel very pleased with the good will and efficiency of the Neigh Savers group. I have adopted two of their rescued horses love these horses. What impresses me most is that both the horses and the volunteers in this group feel the care and support of this foundation. Some of the horses are what I would call extreme makeovers. They came in with serious problems but were able to heal and find new life. This is a very well managed rescue charity.
I was invited to join friends at Gold Gate Field Saturday December 1st. I was very impressed by how well organized the whole event was. Everyone was so friendly, the volunteers were great, the raffle and silent auction were wonderful. I posted pictures on my facebook page and shared with others what a great time I had and how wonderful it was to know I could help a great program. I will definitely look forward to attending again if given the opportunity and I will pass the word to others.
It's been almost two years now since my friend and I started fostering Neigh Saver horses at our stables. Karin Wagner's commitment and unfaltering support to each of the ten Neigh Saver horses that have come to our facility so far has been truely amazing. Thanks to Neigh Savers, we can and do make a difference, one horse at a time!
I am very impressed that so much of the work for this non-profit is done by volunteers, making it possible for almost all of the donations to be directed toward rescuing, caring for, and re-homing horses that would have been killed if it were not for this great group. I was fortunate to be able to attend the fund-raiser at Golden Gate Fields on December 1. It was a fantastic event, well organized, and absolutely delightful. I had no experience with horse racing, but it was exciting to watch, even for those of us who chose not to place any bets. The buffet was incredible - the food was absolutely delicious and abundant. (The only problem with the food was restraining ourselves from over-indulging!) If you must limit the number of fund-raisers per year that you can attend, this one is well worth your consideration.
Attended the Neigh Savers event at the Golden Gate field last Saturday December 1st and it was a great event and well organized. The food was excellent and plentiful, never run out of anything. It was my first time to see horse races and liked it a lot. Thanks for arranging this event and for a great cause. Bless their heart. Sincerely, Will Carrera from San Jose, Ca.
Neigh Savers is a group of good-hearted people working towards solving a very vexing, challenging problem of finding homes and second careers for Thoroughbreds coming off of the racetrack. This non-profit was started by a horse lover and has grown over the years to allow other horse lovers to participate in the rehabing, retraining, and new careers for the most wonderful horses in the world -- OTTBs (off-the track Thoroughbreds). Neigh Savers "Past Performance" chart speaks for itself -- many horses have been saved and helped through their concerted efforts to focus on the good in each horse and find it a home that values those good traits.
Neigh Savers has given me and my new thoroughbred a new lease on life. Premier Diablo (I call him Freckles) raced over 50 times in his seven year career. He earned over $100,000 and retired at the age of 9. He came to me here in Rancho Santa Fe directly from the Golden Gate Fields race track and I just love him. He responds to all my signals while riding and he just loves his new life as a trail horse. He will take me anywhere I ask him to go. He is sound and every once in a while I let him get into an open gallop and what a thrill it is. As a former exercise rider, I remember what it felt to be on the back of a powerful speedy beast. Freckles and I are enjoying a great relationship together thanks to the generous people at Neigh Savers.
Of all the horse charities I know, Neigh Savers is my favorite. I think more of the donations go to actual care for rescued horses than at some of the larger and better known organizations. Karin Wagner does an incredible job selecting, managing, and maintaining the horses Neigh Savers takes on, and also communicating with donors, big and small. I'm a former horse owner and now a race track regular. Whenever I have a good win at the track I send some money to Neigh Savers. I feel a real connection with the horses under Neigh Savers care. Horse rescue is an emotional and expensive endeavor, and I'm proud to be associated with such a fine organization as Neigh Savers.
