Mission: The mission of the Arboretum at Flagstaff is to increase the understanding, appreciation and conservation of plants and plant communities native to the Colorado Plateau; to identify, evaluate, display and introduce plants adaptable to the climatic and soil conditions of the Flagstaff environment; to seek, through scientific research, innovative solutions to conservation issues of this high elevation environment; and to develop educational programs that will increase the understanding of the need for wise stewardship of our natural environment.
Programs: Zoos and botanical gardens - primarily engaged in the preservation and exhibition of live plants and animal life displays for approximately 13,500 visitors.
research and development in the physical, engineering and life sciences (except biotech. ) primarily engaged in conducting research and experimental development (except biotechnology research and experimental development) in life sciences such as agriculture, botany and other allied subjects for governments and other public charities.
