Mission: The mission of Trails of Purpose (TOP) is to support service members and their families in their fight to overcome the negative effects of trauma, transition, and trials that result from their service in the military. Established in 2019, TOP is a therapeutic horse center that serves local service members (including Active Duty, Reserve, and Guard), Veterans, and members of their families (SMVF) in the Hampton Roads community. A certified Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) therapeutic horse center, TOP’s services include equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP), Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), psychotherapy, and community psycho-education in the form of large-scale trainings and smaller events for local SMVF in Hampton Roads, VA. By providing the therapeutic benefits of working with horses, free mental health counseling, and a supportive environment, SMVFs develop authentic relationships with our horses, our clinical team, and their peers and improve their overall quality of life.
