Programs: Imagination station, toledo's science center features hundreds of hands-on exhibits, 6 learning worlds, 4 attractions, a traveling exhibition space and a variety of demonstrations. The science center explores the topics of engineering, energy, water, perception, agriculture, pre-k development and health. This fiscal year, we had over 183,000 visitors. We hosted two temporary exhibitions: design zone, lego: sky high science, and dinosaurs around the world. As a service to the community, we offer free lucas county kids every saturday, free veterans on veterans day, free moms on mother's day, free dads on father's day and free teachers every day. We also offer discounts to active military personnel and lucas county residents and schools. Normal operating hours run tuesday - saturday 10am - 5pm, sunday noon - 5pm.
the science center provides a variety of hands-on workshops for teachers and student groups throughout the school year and summer season. This past year, we welcomed 39,954 schools and groups on field trips, and we brought interactive science to 18,539 students and families through outreach programs. School programs include: classroom field trips, science festivals, workshops on wheels, summer camps and scout programs. Because of the fiscal challenges schools are facing, we created adopt-a-school, which served 4,119 students, educators and chaperones this past fiscal year. This program gives corporations and foundations a way of directly impacting the children in their community by providing them with field trips to imagination station or educational workshops.
