Causes: Mental Health
Mission: The mission of the coalition is to eliminate tobacco use among kansans through advocacy, education and collaboration
Programs: Technical support is provided to advance tobacco control policies, promote proven practices and opportunities for program assistance or funding and to advance the organizational mission of reducing tobacco use in kansas. Tfkc provides various services website, education programs, advertisement, communication of mission and recruitment of members statewide. Tfkc also partners with other health organizations on prevention and cessation strategies.
public education efforts include working with youth groups across kansas to empower them to develop their own tobcco free prevention projects. Mini grants were awarded to provide tobacco use educational events, ie, make the kansas state fair a smoke-free event, kick butts and great american smokeout day. For adult public education, events are offered on various tobacco topics at the annual convention and webinars. Tfkc acts as a statewide clearing house for partners and media sources on tobacco-related news, and ourteach is provided website, newsleters, listserve and social media.
