Mission: Mu produces great performances born of arts, equity, and justice from the heart of the asian american experience. With up to 20,000 audience members every year, mu celebrates and empowers asian americans through theater and taiko in the twin cities, minnesota, and the nation.
Programs: Mu had a successful end to taiko programming, with a celebration of 20 years of mu daiko (mu's taiko performance group) at a weekend-long festival in april 2017, and support of the launch of a new taiko organization, taiko arts midwest. Mu was able to help launch the new organization with a donation of all taiko drums and equipment, and communication to insure interested audience members will continue to be part of the new organization. To keep ticket sales in check and to combat the the rising cost of creating artistically excellent theater, mu has been very creative in developing new collaborations, partnerships, and co-productions that allow us to continue to elevate artistic quality while keeping costs at an approachable level. These collaborations have also increased our audiences throughout the community.
