Mission: The Young Shakespeareans Mission is to unleash the potential of children in underserved neighborhoods through challenging programs proven to build confidence, embolden ambition & empower futures; and to attract attention to & investment in underserved communities and their children by showcasing their remarkable performances of the challenging works of the English-speaking world's most revered playwright.
Results: Since 2010, The Young Shakespeareans (TYS) has served over 15,000 underserved public school children, their families, and communities. A great number of our students begin in 4th grade, continue through 12th grade, have their first jobs through TYS, work part-time for TYS' employ during college, and remain in our fold.
Target demographics: Empower Youth and Transform their Futures
Direct beneficiaries per year: 6,600 Youth & their families
Geographic areas served: Public Elementary, Middle, & High Schools in underserved Los Angeles' neighborhoods
Programs: On-Site, After-School Enrichment Programs alchemizing Academic & Social Emotional Challenges delivered in a Theatrical platform for 4th through 12th graders, plus Workforce/Career Pathways.
