Programs: Train restorationconsistent with the foundations purpose, which includes scientific and educational, and to honor its heritage, the foundation began an important train restoration project in germany. It arises from showcasing the early work of wilhelm and karl maybach, who were driven by their research that pushed past the limits of what was feasible or practicable, and providing important educational opportunities. Their ground-breaking concepts established innovations that created modern mobility on land, on water or in the air. Because of this historic precedent, in 2015 the maybach foundation was able to acquire an historic svt train, regarded as one of the legendary aerodynamic flying trains from the 1930s, and two maybach engines. For the train to reach its renowned top speeds, karl maybach constructed the first fast running diesel engine and minimized the trains air resistance, helping to usher in the age of high speed railroad.
