Mission: The mission of the spahr center is to serve, support and empower marin's lgbtq community and everyone in the county living with and affected by hiv.
Programs: Hiv client care services include medical case management; home-based care; benefits advocacy and non-medical case management; mental health counseling and psychiatric services; psychosocial support groups; aid pharmaceutical, health insurance premium and copayment, and utilities assistance; medical transportation assistance. During the year the programs provided the following services: medical case management-1081 hours of support to 183 clients; home based care-103 hours of home-based support to 12 clients; benefits advocacy and non-medical case management-1592 hours to 213 clients. Mental health services included 48 hours of group counseling to 8 clients; 520 hours of individual therapy to 41 clients and 127 psychiatric sessions for 20 clients. 11 clients participated in psychosocial support groups. Aids pharmaceutical assistance-308 prescriptions for 38 clients; utility assistance-341 utility bills for 70 clients; health insurance premium and copayment assistance-174 premiums for 34 clients and 172 co-payment bills were paid for 51 clients. Medical transportation provided 2024 one way bus rides to 46 clients.
hiv prevention services include hiv and hepatitis c testing; prep navigation; syringe access; classroom and jail-based education;support groups and a food pantry. During the year, 265 tests were administered: 113,750 syringes were exchanged; over 2000 students were reached through classroom education; over 500 prisoners were reached through jail-based education and 1200 visits were made to the pantry.
lgbtq services included mental health counseling; support groups and activities for seniors; a drop-in group for youth; a parent support group for parents of gender fluid and gender questioning youth and classroom presentations. During the year, over 250 seniors participated in groups and activities; drop-in groups had a total attendance of 200; parent groups had a total attendance of 70 and classroom presentations reached several hundred students in the county.
