Mission: The Sea To See Project was founded with the purpose of eliminating avoidable causes of blindness. While maintaining this original mission, the organization has since expanded its scope to include other health concerns amongst indigenous communities around the world. Furthermore, Sea To See is working to share the history and knowledge of indigenous cultures with a broader audience (in particular K-12 classrooms) by building web-based curricula. On a case-by-case basis, Sea To See also endeavors to help indigenous communities find ways to preserve their culture without sacrificing opportunities for advancement by introducing alternative commercial prospects. The evolution of Sea To See is guided by the principal that there exist greater benefits yet to be realized by "globalization" beyond a myopic homogenization of all cultures and economies.
