Mission: The Moore-Weis Children''s Center of Austin is committed to providing a therapeutic educational experience for children two through ten years of age experiencing moderate to severe communication disabilities. Our natural setting creates a positive and nurturing environment empowering children to develop effective, life-long communication skills. The Moore-Weis Children''s Center of Austin educates and encourages parents and the community to become advocates for all children.
Programs: There are four classroom levels at Moore-Weis (Levels 1-4) that serve children with communication disorders ranging in age from 18 months-9 years. About half of the children who attend the center fall under the autism spectrum (i.e., Autism, Asperger?s, PDD-NOS). While at the center, children also receive group and/or individual speech therapy, occupational therapy, and/or applied behavior analysis therapy as needed to help them reach their ITP goals. a. Level 1 serves children 18 months-four years of age with a combination of in-home applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy and school. Children attend the school 6 hours a week and an ABA therapist goes to their home to provide ABA therapy 6 hours a week. b. Level 2serves children ages 2 to 4 year of age. Children in level 2 attend school Monday-Friday for 3.5 hour every day. c. Level 3 serves children ages 4 and 5. Children in level 3 attend school Monday-Friday for 5.5 hours each day. d. Level 4 serves children ages 5 through 8. Children in level 4 attend school Monday-Friday for 5.5 hours each day.
