Programs: Juvenile home services - methodist home for children, inc. ("mhc") operates five multi-purpose juvenile homes providing services to youth involved in the juvenile justice system who are diverted to these homes to participate in a therapeutic environment focused on making positive behavioral changes. Mhc operates two transitional living homes with a focus on helping the youth learn independent living and vocational skills. Mhc also operates three juvenile crisis and assessment centers providing crisis intervention, assessment and service planning for youth who require temporary out-of-home placement to stabilize their behaviors and provide an opportunity to determine effective interventions. During the fiscal year, 285 youth were served in these assessment centers.
foster care & adoptions - mhc provides foster care services for youth who are experiencing trauma due to issues involving abuse, neglect, and/or potential homelessness or mental health needs. During the fiscal year, mhc served a total of 241 youth in foster care. Of those, 115 youth were served in traditional foster care, 64 were served in therapeutic foster care (children with specific and chronic mental health diagnoses), 42 were served in rapid response crisis stabilization (children in crisis who need emergency short-term care), and 20 were served in juvenile justice foster care (runaways, gang-affiliated teens, or other court-involved youth). During the fiscal year, mhc completed a total of 26 adoptions.
early childhood services - mhc operates the jordan child and family enrichment center, a five-star child care center providing services for typically and atypically developing children in an inclusive classroom. During the fiscal year, mhc served 214 children in this program. 40% of enrolled children were considered to be at-risk due to family income or disability. 50% of the enrolled children received financial assistance. 15% of the enrolled children had developmental disabilities.
