The League of Amazing Programmers has helped me develop my software skills and also improve my skills in problem solving. The skills I learned from the league helped me lead an award winning robotics team in the San Diego Region. Overall, the excellent teachers and program at League of Amazing truly helped me improve my skills and set me on track to becoming an engineer in the future.

My experience with the League of Amazing Programmers has been overwhelmingly positive. I have been attending since I was 13, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my time with the school. The teachers are so supportive, genuine, and friendly, and I feel that I have developed meaningful relationships with many of them. I have grown up alongside some of the people who have been in my classes, and every time I go to the school I feel like I am surrounded by old friends. They are truly so receptive to student input, always adding new classes and modifying their curriculum based on improvements that their students suggest. In my experience the classes balance the social and didactic aspects of learning. The TA curriculum, in which a more advanced student assists those in less advanced classes, enhances this experience. This school has fueled my passion for programming in ways that I don’t know if any other experience could have. I truly love the League of Amazing Programmers, they are an excellent school, and I am so grateful for them. They have taught me not only how to program, but much more importantly how to think like a programmer, and I know that I am ahead of the vast majority of my peers in computer science because of their incredible staff, plethora of resources, and genuine interest in helping kids learn. I truly cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this school is and how profoundly grateful I am to have been able to attend.

I had a great experience studying at the league over many years. Best part is you can learn at your speed and instructors are really supportive. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and get involved with community.
Programming is best learnt over time and league facilitates that by dividing the study over multiple levels.

Great Program -both of my kids attend it, my teenage daughter can program in Java, and my son is learning fast. Definitely highly recommend it to everyone interested in going the programming/engineering rout. They also support disadvantaged kids by waving or decreasing tuition. Teachers are amazing and highly involved.

My son ( a high school senior now) , had gone to the League of Amazing Programmers since he was in the 6th grade, and completed Level 8 and passed Oracle JAVA exam in the 11th grade. Now he self-educated Python and passed the associate Python certification. This organization gave him not only the JAVA language knowledge but also confidence, and succeed in his life. The teachers and volunteers are 100% committed to teach the computer language and work with our children. While other organizations are closed for holidays or any other reasons, the league is always opened and teaching the kids. It surprised me their commitments over the years. I really appreciate what have given to my son. I highly recommend this organization.

Over the last 6 months, I've had the honor of hearing the stories of several LEAGUE alumni. The positive impact that this program has on these teens is truly astounding. Many of them were on scholarship and are now in college pursuing a degree in Computer Science - which will set them up for a lucrative career in the tech industry. I also love The LEAGUE's dedication to serving more girls and underserved kids, and giving them the opportunity to learn Java programming in a fun, hands-on learning environment.

I started classes at the League in 7th grade, and I stayed all the way up until my senior year of high school. I love the League, and I had a great time there. It is a fantastic environment to learn how to code. The teachers are awesome, everyone is very nice and collaborative, and there are events you can participate in to gain experience (or just for fun!). I volunteered as a TA for a few summer camps as well, and if you can I highly recommend it, it's a great way to spend time and a super fun experience overall.

I first joined The League of Amazing Programmers in the 7th grade as just something my mom wanted me to do. Little did I know that it would become not only one of my favorite activities but would develop into my career choice. The league would teach me programming not by lecture but by actually giving me tasks and learning from them. More than anything the teachers were always willing to help out with even the smallest questions I had. I will take all of the lessons I have learned and put them to use in college

I've been a student at the League Of Amazing Programmers for almost four years. The education the League provides is fun and informative, and I learn much more in class than I do in other academic settings. Completing recipes helps give the complex concepts we learn more context, and makes the whole subject easier to understand. The League also provides opportunities to teach younger students programming skills, and the ability to tutor these students helps broaden my understanding of the topic as well. So happy that my son looks forward to going each and every week- he comes out of class feeling like he’s achieved something every time.
He’s learning a skill that will set him up in the professional world by the time he is done with high school. Having a certificate from this organization will also help with college applications.

Two of my children have attended The League of Amazing Programmers. It is simply an amazing place! Students get support from excellent teachers and a well thought out program to learn programming skills in Java and to discover if programming is for them. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace, discover how to solve programming problems, struggle to find their own programming errors, and be creative in designing their own software. The students get a lot of confidence and motivation from solving programming problems and progressing through the levels of the program. If your child is "into" programming then it is a great environment to learn and progress with like minded peers. In other words, the kids have fun learning! The league also provides important extracurricular opportunities like visiting companies that do software development and participating in software design competitions. At the higher levels, the students get to work in groups on larger, real programming projects which is invaluable experience to a student considering CS as a college major. The results are also amazing! My eldest went into CS in college and tested out of the first 1.5 years of CS programming classes thanks to the League. My youngest will most likely write the AP CS A test at the end of 9th grade again thanks to the League. So basically, I can't say enough good things about this place. If your child wants to try programming then The League of Amazing Programmers is where you need to be!

The League has made us a better family! 6 years ago I was the parent of a 4th grader and constantly arguing with him over computer time. I thought he was addicted and would never leave his room again. I begged the league to let him in early, at the time they only took 5th grade and up. They did and it has been a life changer for all of us. He found a direction for his passion and we found peace. Six years later, he has passed the AP Comp Sci test and is on his way to become an Oracle Programmer. He volunteers as a TA and helps out with the summer workshops. He has become such an amazing young man and I owe a lot of that to League and their positive influence in his life. Thank You Vic, June, Keith, Vickie, Stephen and the rest of this awesome team!

In just over a year, he progressed from a beginner to almost reaching advanced level and is now helping out with beginner workshops at the League.

The teachers are amazing! The program is extremely flexible. Students learn at his or her own pace in a fun, friendly and non-competitive environment. Hands-on projects and presentations prepare students for real life. The recognition by the UCSD Extension is also a plus! I would highly recommend joining the League if you have a kid who is curious about computer science & STEM.

I am a volunteer teacher at The League of Amazing Programmers. I help out with their Saturday morning Level 0 class at the Downtown library. This class mostly consists of young students who will be the first generation to attend college. Most do not have access to computer programming courses through their school. I started to volunteer because I was shocked by Stack Overflow's Developer Survey Results for 2017, which show the majority of professional developers have parents who attended college. This is a grim statistic for first generation college students who might not even know about careers in tech. The League of Amazing Programmers is doing important work in the community to improve these statistics for first generation college students. The skills these students are learning will put them in a position to be innovators of technology, not simply consumers. Furthermore, if they so choose, they will be in a position to confidently pursue a Computer Science degree in college. In an industry where there is a lot of talk about diversifying the workforce, The League is actually doing the crucial work necessary to diversify the pipeline for tech. They are a crucial nonprofit, engaged in powerful efforts with long-term implications for the communities where they work.

My son, Ian, has taken coding classes from the League of Amazing Programmers for more than three years; I highly recommend this organization. The League's administrative staff is helpful and friendly and its classroom teachers are excellent instructors who care about encouraging kids to learn code and bring their industry knowledge to the classroom. Students advance through a series of ranks with defined goals and benchmarks (including one which helped prepare my son to successfully take the AP Computer Science exam as a freshman) and in a way that they find interesting and fun. Projects range from designing and creating a video game to developing an app that will benefit society, and more. Each of my son's instructors has been smart, patient, helpful, knowledgable and encouraging and has shared their experiences in a way that helps students connect the dots between what they are doing in class to what they could do in the working world some day. My son has had two additional great experiences through the League: participating in its annual IAROC robotics competition and helping to teach coding to new students as a TA. As an organization, the League has a great mission that its founder Vic Wintriss clearly believes in: helping students from all backgrounds learn to code. The League runs classes in several San Diego locations including at the downtown library and MLK libraries. We found the League by word of mouth and are so glad we did.

I have been a student with The League of Amazing Programmers since it's inception four years ago. This non-profit organization has been nothing short of amazing. The League teaches young people how to code extremely effectively.

The faculty at The League is unparalleled, with mentors that come right from industry teaching students techniques and strategies used by those working in the field. Their proprietary curriculum is well organized, easy to follow, and allows students to achieve mastery of Java at very young ages. There is tremendous camaraderie among students working to achieve each successive Level of skill. I'm not sure where I'd be in my educational journey if I had not stumbled on The League that summer after Middle School.

By the time I graduate from High School I will have become a Certified Java Professional, thanks to the encouragement, support and incredible vision of the faculty and staff at The League of Amazing Programmers. For anyone interested in learning programming languages, you won't regret diving into one of their workshops.

To potential donors or anyone willing to financially support The League, you are helping to create a generation of young people who are well prepared to handle the demands of a high tech world. The League are good stewards of their resources and my parents have always been very happy to support this non-profit.

Finally, The League founders, Vic and Diane Wintriss, are two of the most inspirational people I have ever met in my life, and I owe them tremendous gratitude for being so giving of their time, talent and being incredible visionaries by starting this organization.

All in all the League is making learning code incredibly easy and fun at the same time!

I have 2 kids attending The League and several others that I have recommended. This is the best thing ever for my kids. My daughter was reluctant at first and June Clarke (Lead teacher, who is very smart and an outstanding individual) took my daughter under her wings and before I knew it my middle schooler wanted to volunteer and teach Java. Not only are the kids leanings a very marketable programming skill they are also being mentored by the Java professionals that teach the classes.

As a board member, I have known Vic and Diane for the last 4 years. Both of them are the most outstanding individuals you will ever meet in a lifetime.

What are you waiting for?

I have been volunteering at the League for over a year now and it is an amazing organization. Professional programmers share their skills with kids to teach them how to code. We've just had 5 kids get their Oracle certification!

I have been a teacher/mentor at the League for many years. The league has allowed me to share my passion for programming with students. It's a joy to see them marvel, enjoying working on small projects, gradually becoming better and better at solving problems, taking on more and more complex tasks, and, over the course of 4-6 years, ending up with invaluable skills they'll have for life.

My son has been attending the LEAGUE for the past 5 years. He started in 5th grade. He truly loves going to class. He is always excited to go and leaves knowing he learned something. The low student ratio allows the great teachers to really engage the students. Learning JAVA programming has really boost my son's academic confidence and opened a new world of opportunities. He is looking forward to taking his computer AP test at the end of 10th Grade and pursuing an computer science degree.

I've gotten two interns through The League, and both have been remarkable, with the current intern tackling Linux, Microcontrollers, and a Robot Operating System on a project to rebuild a robotic arm. The evident skill is proof that the League is making an important contribution to training the next generation of engineers and programmers.

I have been a student for over three years now and have had an absolutely amazing experience. With the knowledge I have learned from the League, I have much to put on my resumes of the future and I have made quite a bit of money freelancing! The teachers are great and it's very friendly.

I continue to be pleased with how much my son has learned at The League, and how much he enjoys it. We just got the scores for the AP Computer Science exam and he passed, as a 7th grader! He would not have been able to do that with any other coding program that I know of - this is far and away the best programming class for kids! (And we've tried several!)

I am a teacher at The LEAGUE of Amazing Programmers with a degree in computer science from Purdue and 25 years of experience in the field. I have found the other teachers to be knowledgeable and kind-hearted. It has been fun sharing what I know with children and young adults who are interested in the subject. If you have a child interested in computers, I can highly recommend this school.

My daughter started with the League at a weeklong summer camp over a year ago. She loved it, and began attending weekly classes. Her classes are Friday evenings, so I thought she might be tempted to skip them. No way! She loves the class and looks forward to it, no matter how crazy the week may be. She is now taking AP Computer Science in high school, and her League classes have made it so much easier for her to understand the material.

Even though girls are the minority in her classes, the positive and welcoming atmosphere at the League has always made her feel comfortable. There are only three girls in her high school AP Computer Science class, but because she already learned so much at the League, she has not felt intimidated at all.

We were so excited to find the League, and plan to continue classes for many years.

We started with the League of Amazing Programmers when my son was in 5th grade. He took classes on Saturdays and loved them. They prepared him for the Computer Science AP exam, which he took and passed in 7th grade. He is now in 10th grade and last summer completed a college Computer class at UCSD for credits. Yes, he was the only high school student in the class. My younger boy has started with the League this summer at an Introduction to Programming Camp, again loved it! He is now in the after school classes at the League and looks forward to his "lessons" every Tuesday. The conversations at our dinner table are way over my head! The two kids talk in their own langue. "Did you use index of?" , "No, I used if the variable contains and then two curly brackets and wrote J option pane, show message dialogue". Etc... Trust me I have NO idea what any of that means but they LOVE IT! Thank you for making learning fun!

My son began at The League over a year ago, when he was 11. He is fairly advanced when it comes to computers, and has done pretty much all the tech/programming/coding camps for kids that I could find in San Diego - such as iDTech, UCSD Extension, etc. - most of which were not challenging enough and were "watered down" for kids (i.e. "learn to program through Minecraft" and that type of thing). He loved the League from the very start. They are teaching REAL programming with JAVA, not the Scratch or code.org stuff, so he is learning real-life skills! The staff and instructor mentors are great and passionate about what they do. I also like how they use the more advanced students to help mentor the new students, which helps the student mentors build their knowledge as well as confidence and self esteem. It's a terrific, supportive community for a techie kid like mine, where he can be around other kids who share his interest in tech and programming. I know of no other program in San Diego doing anything like this. I am so thankful to have found this gem right here in our community! I only wish I could have found it sooner!

My son had attended some "Java Programming Camps" prior to participating in The League of Amazing Programmers. His enthusiasm to pursue more in-depth features of Java led him to The League. Imagine his surprise at discovering he learned more about professional level approaches to Java programming in his first day with The League than what transpired during the combined time at those (very expensive) camps. The intimate class size at The League and personal attention and encouragement have inspired him to aspire to majoring in computer science in college -- even though he just entered 9th grade! He is looking forward to working on his next exciting Java game through the expert support and guidance of the knowledgeable League staff.

My son takes programming classes here and loves it! When he first showed interest in programming we weren't sure how to feed that interest. We checked his homeschool and was disappointed to learn they don't offer programming there. A friend told us about the League, and now he's on track to take the AP Computer Science exam (which is also not offered at his home school)... and more importantly explore a possible career path! Most amazing is that his learning is being made possible through a financial grant. Someone out there was kind enough to help my child find success, and I'm forever grateful for the help.

My son is technically gifted but lacked structure in how he was learning to program. When Wintriss Technical Schools offered an after school program at his elementary school I thought he would find it boring however the teacher adapted the lessons to his learning ability. Through the school he has had the opportunity to work on a team and participate in a competition. Beyond simply providing a framework for programming education, Wintriss has connected him with other youngsters who share the same interests and abilities. It has challenged him in new ways and at a level simply not provided in his regular schooling.

The Wintriss Technical School has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience for me as a volunteer and teacher. Vic and the board members have done an amazing job at putting the students and parents first. It's also so very rewarding to work with all the students. They usually gain a lot of confidence and technical knowledge with hands-on learning. I am grateful for being a part of this school.

The Wintriss Technical School is a fun creative environment that gives their students the chance to explore the world of technology. Attending students immediately start writing in real programming languages and spend time with very knowledgeable facility that work in the industry. The kids learn to develop software through interactive programming puzzles and it is amazing to see how much they pick up. The advanced skills they are learning at such a young age gives them a huge advantage to accomplishing great things. Vic Wintriss has given his students a strong technical foundation for high school while providing a team building structure for growth.

The Wintress Technical School opened up a whole new world to my son. Not knowing anything about programming 3 years ago, William has learned so much from Mr. Wintress and his associate instructors. With the amazing things he has learned from Wintress Technical, he was able to achieve a 3 out 5 on the Advanced Placement Computer Programming Examination as a 7th grader. Mr. Wintress's scholarship has afforded my son a bright future in computers and programming. Our family is forever in his debt for his kindness, mentorship and generosity.

We moved to the area two years ago when my son was 10 years old. He was very interested in learning how to program, because he wanted to create his own video games. He said he wanted to "make educational video games, so parents would let their children play video games during the week". We found WTS and Vic through a friend. We are truly grateful. My son has been attending for two years and he looks forward to going to class every week. He has learned so much. Watching his team program their robot for the robotic competition really shows how much they have learned. Most importantly, WTS and their staff have further stimulated his interested in computers and the opportunities available for him if he stays in that field.

My school-aged son is very interested in computer programming, and was trying to learn Python and Java from library books. After extensive searching, we found Wintriss Technical Schools--the only organization in our area teaching computer programming to children. After he participated in a week-long Wintriss camp, he was hooked and wanted to participate in weekly classes. Thanks to a very generous scholarship from Wintriss, he is able to attend the classes and has learned more than I could have imagined.

The administrators, teachers and mentors are outstanding and genuinely committed to these students' success. My son loves attending.

My son has been taking classes at Wintriss for two years now. He started the summer before his eighth grade year and has benefitted tremendously from this program. He LOVES the program, has passed the AP Computer Science Exam, is now mentoring younger students in programming, and has applied his skills beyond the classroom. He and his Wintriss team recently won a robotics competition winning $1000, he was selected by his school to run the technical side of TEDx Youth San Diego because of what he has learned, and has taken these skills into his passion for film, working for the church, and even an internship at KPBS. It has been amazing for him, and I HIGHLY recommend the Wintriss Technical School for any kid with technical inclinations. They are great people teaching kids real life skills for a rapidly advancing technology driven world. I commend them for their work!

My son has been attending classes at Wintriss for about a year and a half, starting in the 8th grade. He has received such positive encouragement through the staff at Wintriss, and his Java programming skills have flourished. He was asked to mentor a younger student who was having some difficulties in programming - an opportunity he happily took. He also enjoyed participating with a team in the Robotics Competition recently, learning a lot about both robotics and teamwork. The staff at Wintriss is wonderful - a very knowledgeable and supportive group.

My son started learning to program in JAVA at Wintriss Technical Schools (WTS) 3 years ago, in 8th grade. What began as something "just for fun" quickly became a life path for him. He has learned how to program well, earning a 5 out of 5 on the AP Computer Science exam in 10th grade. Furthermore, he has grown into a successful mentor and teacher at WTS as he shares his knowledge and skills with other Wintriss students. He has gained so much in the way of leadership skills and self-confidence during his time at WTS. He was able to secure a summer internship with the connections he made at WTS and now, as he moves into his senior year of high school, he plans to apply to college as a computer science/engineering major.
