Donna has been a very compassionate and supportive person for my brother. He has lived there for five years and has had wonderful people caring for him. He broke his hip in December and returned to The Lamb with great relief that his apartment was held for him. His roommates are kind. The food is good and the health care is wonderful. Keeping in mind that all of the residents have disabilities, there are bound to be some challenges but my brother has been able to live and let live. He can be challenging in his own way. I wish I could take him in but circumstances are not conducive to his care in my home. We have disabled children and can't stretch any more. We thank God for The Lamb.
He feels lucky to have his medication managed, food and a roof, and house keeping. Our family is grateful to The Lamb since non of us were in a position to take our brother after the death of both or parents, within a month of each other. He would have been homeless. His life was highjacked when they died but The Lamb helped him. Donna has a lot on her plate. She meets with my brother and siblings when necessary but tells us to cut to the chase. That cannot be faulted when she is helping so many people.
My brother is mentally ill and was nearly homeless when I took him to Lamb 5 years ago. Since he's lived at Lamb, his apartment is clean, his laundry is clean, he receives 3 meals a day, they take him to the Doctor, and they administer his medication. The building he lives in and his apartment are furnished with second furniture that they manage to put together in a very appealing way. This is a total relief in my life to know he is safe and well cared for.
Donna is no-nonsense, all-business, but you would have to be to run the place as well as she does. Any contact I've every had with her, she is always concerned and cordial to me. I think executive women get a bad rap for being tough, when I guy would be admired for the same thing. Also, in the 5 years that my brother has lived there, I've been talking to the same employees year after year. They must be doing something right to keep their employees!
There are a few very kind people who work here, but that being said, bad apples spoil the whole bunch and it is run by some very very rotten apple cores. They primarily take all of your social security and provide just enough care to keep you alive so the check keeps coming. I have been called to different people housed by them to do their job for them. They just pass the duty onto emergency responders when it's hard.
Donna Mengel is also anti-semitic and has said "hen I die, I will be up in heaven look- ing down at the Jews burning in hell, and I will be hearing the snap, crackle and pop"
I visited last wed. I was taken to see three different apt. I was encouraged to see how Donna cared for me. The apt. I liked was on the first floor. So far the interviews have been good. I can not wait to move in. Martha K
Lamb helps provide a safe home for those folks needing community and resource guidance. As an independent living facility, it utilizes both internal and external staff/agencies to care for the physical and emotional well being of the clients who reside there. I loved my 14 months working as a home care nurse at this facility and dearly miss clients and staff since my out of state move.
Donna is a monster. Should you ever encounter her, beware. You want to avoid this disgusting excuse of a human being.
If you ask any questions or challenge Donna Mengel/Founder regarding your loved one's care, she first evicts them. If that doesn't work, she goes for the restraining order to keep you from the property and her employees. Next step, to totally cut off all contact via phone with your loved one. This is one sad day for humanity when the family is RIPPED away from their loved ones. That is why she doesn't want to be licensed by the State. She would have to answer to them. I ask you where are the Family's Rights??
Please write to the PA Gov's office - OGC fax 717-787-1788 your complaint! We must fight these types of facilities. That is the only way to change a broken system.
Do not trust this organization. They treat their patients badly over medicate and are not to be trusted.
My sister has had money stolen and was heavily overmedicated. I am looking for all incidents of patient miscare for this organization. Donna Mengel is a witch and is making money on sick people . If you ask any questions on your loved ones care, she evicts them. She throws her lawyer husband at you. Who cares whether her husband is a lawyer, most likely 2 peas in a pod. Thiefs My sister is in the hospital and I believe everything she says of how they abused her. I would never let any one that I care about go here. Hope, you had the same experience as we did.
THIS IS NOT A LICENSED FACILITY! BEWARE! I have had a family member living in one of their facilities for 6 years. The last year has been horrible. My family member was beat up by a new resident; her personal belongings were stolen and when I requested the insurance information for The Lamb Foundation my family doctor was contacted by Donna Mengel with threats that my family member would be evicted if I continued to cause problems. If I caused problems? Now I find this facility "refuses" to become licensed - per Pa. Department of Public Welfare and Pa. Department on Aging, Montgomery County office.
