As part of the Humane Society of Calvert County, I have been working with the Cat Care Program under the direction of Peggy Clark in North Beach, MD. This is one of the most rewarding volunteer positions I've ever had, and I've done a lot of different kinds of volunteering. This group of people, and especially Peggy Clark, goes way above and beyond to rescue, care for, spay/neuter, micro-chip, establish multiple foster homes and find good fits for kittens and cats in her charge. Tremendous care goes into the adoption process, making certain that those who want to provide a 'forever home' are well matched to the adopted animal. Her cats are known for being healthy, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, active and very social. It takes a lot of work to achieve that kind of reputation. She has developed special quarantine facilities, barn-cat programs and feral cat communities in an effort to stem the tide of cat over-population. She is on the speed-dial as a first responders when critical events occur.

I work with many rescues, and I decided to sit on the board of CCHS, as they do great work! I'm also a volunteer, trainer, and client served. They are a true no kill, and are very dedicated to the care of their animals. My dog, Showtime, was kept for a year and a half; other organizations may have given up on him, but not CCHS. They also do not discriminate due to breed, age, or health. Thank you for what you do!
