Mission: To promote justice for all children by ensuring excellence in juvenile defense through the provision of training, technical support, policy development, research, advocacy, communications and leadership opportunities for lawyers who represent the legal rights of children.
Programs: Smart on juvenile justice - enhancing youth access to justice initiative - ensure that every youth involved with the juvenile justice system has fair and equal access to quality legal representation.
other juvenile indigent defense programs - through these programs, njdc was able to perform work for the national cleanslate clearinghouse program, a national program that provides people with criminal records, legal service providers, and state policymakers with information on juvenile and adult criminal record clearance policies in all u. S. States and territories. Additionally, njdc was able to work the other stakeholders to create the judicial council and develop educational tools to improve the juvenile justice system. Njdc works on multiple fronts to bring capable legal counsel to children in the nation's juvenile justice system.
juvenile defense training, technical assistance and policy development - through this project, njdc developed and expanded our capacity to improve juvenile defense services across the nation. Njdc was able to support and host the annual juvenile defender leadership summit, as well as, assist juvenile defenders across the country in a variety of ways including providing training, technical assistance, advocacy, policy development and creating opportunities for leadership.
