Mission: Learning environment serving the children, families, and educators of east texas through exhibits at the museum which ignite curiosity in young minds through fun, hands-on exploration.
Programs: Traveling exhibits - discovery science place partnered with tyler junior college to present "leonardo da vinci: machines in motion. " the exhibit was open from may 24 - september 24, 2014. This exhibit increased traffic in the museum and was used for various educaitonal programming of the museum.
permanent exhibits - upgrading existing exhibits during the year included modifications to the discovery landing ship and the brookshires grocery store exhibit in the hometown gallery. The modifications were designed to increase guest engagement, stem relevance and ties to texas essential knowledge skill standards for science. Added a hands-on mining sluice exhibit where guests can mine for minerals, fossils, etc. And learn about geology.
mini maker faire - held at the end of march, the faire was attended by approximately 1,000 people. Visitors were able to view and share creations, inventions, and ideas in the fields of science and technology.
