advancing philanthropy: philanthropy is a critical enabler of impact in the sector. We have had important opportunities to work with philanthropists and foundations on their social change strategies as well as with grantees in philanthropy portfolios. In 2016, we were fortunate to collaborate with several ambitious philanthropists as well as institutional philanthropies searching for effective ways to achieve large-scale impact with their giving. A core objective of bridgespan has always been to bridge the visions of impact-seeking philanthropists with the on-the-ground work of nonprofit leaders.
leadership: bridgespan collaborates with social sector leaders to strengthen the flow of talent into and within the social sector and to support the development of outstanding mission-driven leaders. We help them to develop leadership skills through our powerful program leading for impact, a two-year consulting and capacity building program for nonprofit executive teams (116 organizations, 668 participants in 2016). We also provide nonprofit leaders with high-impact career opportunities through our nonprofit job board (in 2016 the bridgespan job board hosted 2,846 jobs and board of director postings) and strengthen organizational and individual performance through insight and best practice sharing across networks of individuals and organizations.
