Mission: It is our mission.... to guide and inspire the youth of our community to develop the attitudes and life skills they need to thrive.
Geographic areas served: Redwood City, East Palo Alto, Eastern Menlo Park
Programs: Academics - bgcp collaborates with its partner schools with distinct programs for different grades; literacy for k-5th, stem for 6th-8th, and academic support and career readiness for 9th-12th. 742 members attended our programs daily at the 6 school sites we serve. In the summer, we offered 5 weeks of k-8 programs that daily included 3 hours of academics taught by certified teachers and 4 hours of enrichment.
teens - bgcp offers programs geared for teens and pre-teens to help them stay on track in school and graduate with a plan. During the summer, more than 150 9th-12th graders followed project-based career tracks, visited local companies, and interacted with professionals who volunteered. Our youth of the year event also gave our youth opportunities to develop academic, character and leadership skills.
technology - the organization offers opportunities for members to explore technology through video, music, and computer science. Members have created multimedia player apps with original music, writing, and digital art. 138 of our 4th-8th graders participated in macgyver, prototype it! , and makey-makey programs. Thirty of our teens produced and submitted several short films to adobe youth voices.
members also participate in various sports and fitness programs, cooking, music, and art classes.
