Mission: The bisbee radio project, inc. (kbrp) broadcasts a 24-hour program clock of locally based news, public affairs, and artistic programming to the community of bisbee. Kbrp is dedicated to making the airwaves available to the entire community and currently has more than 60 active volunteers participating in station operations. The station offers a wide array of programming presented by these community volunteers, which represents more than 100 hours of original content a week.
Programs: Kbrp community radio and the bisbee mining & historical museum, a smithsonian affiliate, brought bisbee's mining heritage to the airwaves. This program, the copper chronicle, records and archives the stories that make this rich history relevant to our citizens and visitors. The launch of the copper chronicle, hosted by bisbee native charles bethea, reveals a distinctive narrative created through extensive research in the library of the bisbee mining & historical museum.
the bisbee radio project will develop a mobile application that will provide a depot for all content related to continuing the 'copper chronicle' project. This collaboration has already successfully produced more than 35 programs in its first year, but will expand to reach a new demographic and drive a new form of economic development and cultural tourism in bisbee. The mobile application will correspond with locations covered within the copper chronicle focusing on a walking tour format within old bisbee.

Kbrp's programming has been recognized regionally and nationally for its unique and critical content. This include recognition from the world community broadcasters association (amarc), the national federation of community broadcasters (nfcb), pacifica national programming, intercollegiate broadcasting system (ibs), the arizona commission on the arts, the arizona humanities council, and the museum association of arizona.
the bisbee radio project also manages the bisbee blues festival, which serves more than 1500 people each year from a regional area that includes phoenix, tucson, las cruces, etc. The blues festival is a three-day festival, which includes 6-7 national/touring musical acts as well as a family arts and education day. The blues festival is staffed and run by kbrp volunteers and provides a physical representation of kbrp radio programming.
