Mission: To create inventive new works and bring theatre to life in unexpected ways, to consistently provide a professional level laboratory to rigorously explore original ideas and assist in the development of theatre artists, and to collaborate with community-based organizations to develop educational arts programs enabling the bulding of bridges and offering cultural exchange within communities
Programs: The bed: a theatre lila invention - an original work devised by a diverse group of writers from across the country and presented at the fredrick march play circle in march 2017. This new work experimented with inventive, physical story telling and was performed by a racially diverse cast. The play reach approximately 1500 audience members from dane county and beyond
the whoopensocker show - may 2017 at the overture center for the arts. The whoopensocker show is a final presentation of our whoopensocker arts residency, a culmination of stories written by 3rd graders in the madison metropolitan school district. Audiences from schools and the public were invited to attend at no cost, we hosted over 500 people at this free event
whoopensocker arts residency - our educational program and residency goes into classrooms in mmsd to facilitate a six week workshop for 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. Teams of teaching artists work with students on creative writing and performance techniques to ignite their imaginations and instill a love for writing. Four residency took place in 2017 and over 800 students received this educational program.
