Mission: The arc of texas is the oldest and largest nonprofit, volunteer organization in the state of texas committed to creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be included in their communities and to make choices which affect their lives.
Programs: The arc of texas maintains household recycling offices in dallas/fort worth, san antonio, and austin that solicit donations of clothing, appliances, and other household items from the general public and then sells the donated items to an unrelated third party. The net profits from these operations are then used to support the arc's program activities. A portion of the net profits are also distributed to local arc chapters to assist with their exempt purpose activities. The management and board of directors of the arc of texas believe the household recycling activity is a program service of the organization.
