Mission: The Arc of Dauphin and Lebanon Counties is a non-profit, membership organization whose primary purpose is to provide services and supports with dignity and respect to people of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. To achieve this purpose, The Arc cooperates with other government and private agencies and organizations such as the mental retardation system, education system, religious community and other community organizations that provide services to people who have disabilities.

Programs: Sertoma center: this program was discontinued in fiscal year ended june 30, 2014. Previously, the camp offered several two and a half day midweek and weekend respite camps throughout the summer months. The camp was sold in june 2015.
life in the community services: socialization services with a focus towards community integration for adults who are developmentally disabled. Some activities include self- enhancement, participant and spectator sports, trips, social events, etc. The majority of activities offered by this program are now determined by the consumers themselves.
respite camps: the arc's respite camps are held up to three weekends per month for up to eight consumers. These respite camps provide consumers with different opportunities to experience a variety of weekend supportive and supervised activities. Weekend respite programs offer themed weekends with appropriate accompanying fun-filled activities. During the summer mid-week respite sessions were offered.
"options" habilitation services: habilitation services afford consumers the opportunity to live more independently and/or become more productive and active in their community. This service provides for individualized life skill training and community integration opportunities based on the consumer's specific needs, interests and abilities, consistent with a self-determined lifestyle. The businesses make the contributions to educational improvement through eligible non-profit organizations. The association has been designated as an eligible organization by providing innovative educational programs to its consumers. The kids on the block program makes the general public aware of things that children who have disabilities "can do" through puppet shows in elementary schools. Lunch and learn events are held to increase awareness and understanding of topics of interest to those involved in mental health and intellectual disabilities. Positive behavior supports and promotes an individual's natural abilities to develop new skills, communicate more effectively and improve their quality of life. Program service expenses: 312,254 program service revenue: 297,075 family support services: this program enables a number of families, who have family members with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in dauphin county, to become empowered in making choices for goods and services which can enhance the quality of life for the individual who is disabled and the family as a whole. In the fiscal year ended june 30, 2015, more than 100 families benefited from this program. Program service expenses: 209,826 program service revenue: 204,644 representative payee: this program manages the social security benefits or supplemental security income benefits of individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities or mental health concerns. The needs of these individuals are paid for from these benefits. The social security administration monitors this program on a regular basis. As of june 30, 2015, the arc served over 400 participants in this program. Advocates help consumers navigate through service systems such as education, developmental programs, federal funding streams, medical assistance, legal assistance, housing, transportation, social security, trusts and wills, and community supports and resources.
