Mission: To meet the educational needs of incarcerated muslim population.
Programs: Visionto provide the education needed to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals realize their full potential. Missionto provide current and formerly incarcerated men and women with quality islamic education geared towards the refinement of their thinking and behavior, positioning them to transition to society more productively. Specifically, we offer islamic correspondence courses at the postsecondary level to the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated through our distance learning program. We have seen the transformative value of higher education and are wholeheartedly committed to establishing the processes that enable our students to inherit a contributory role that will facilitate their self-improvement and allow them to reclaim a future, even beyond the walls of the prison. Goals1. Security: institutional security is our primary concern. 2. Access: to provide students access to quality education under the guidance of qualified scholars. 3. Real-life solutions: implement educational programs that offer real life solutions corresponding with student needs and expectations4. Cohorts: reinforce the learning experience with self-improvement through action-based and contributory learning by use of specially designed cohorts that take full advantage of our participatory model. 5. Resources: always remain committed to the success of our students by allocating resources efficiently and introducing educational programs that facilitate an effective transition to society. Collaboration: collaborate with other agencies or individuals to enhance our capabilities and position ourselves in order to maximize the opportunities available to our students. 2014 accomplishments:served over 370 students in over 30 states through our education programmoved into a new office which expanded our ability to develop material, work with volunteers and interns. Development of 6 courses complete with audio lectures, printed material, and examinationsthe initiation of a new semester program and application process enhancing the impact of our distant education program. Answered religious questions from hundreds of individuals. Coordinating with chaplains for quran and islamic educational material distributionassisted various students in participating in undergraduate and graduate programssecured a grant to allow for the expansion of our program by hiring staff, renting space and paying for the development and production of our educational material
