Mission: The vision of the foundation is to support, maintain and promote the tammany trace as well as assist with management, implementation and operational strategies.
Programs: The organization is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and security of the tammany trace, which is used by the general public. The multi-purpose public path covers 31 miles going through covington, abita springs, mandeville, lacombe & slidell. It is utilized by the general public for walking, skating, bicycle riding, horseback riding. Many people with various handicaps also make use of the paved pathway. Funds are raised through dues, sale of miscellaneous items, rental of pavilion and various fund raisers throughout the year. Approximately 300,000 people utilized the trace in 2011.
the foundation serves as the main fundraising support for camp salmen nature park. Camp salmen will encourage appreciation of louisiana landscapes and will promote a conservation ethic through the preservation of natural habitats. Camp salmen includes nearly 130 acres of property in southeastern louisiana. This project will foster educational, cultural, and recreational activities to louisiana residents and visitors.
the foundation also provides the funding for the kids konnection playground, located on the tammany trace. The playground is south louisiana's first fully accessible playground that allows all children and adults, with or without disabilities to play and interact in a safe and positive environment. The playground attracted over 103,000 visitors in 2012.
