I am relatively new to the rural VA area. When I came here, I tried hard to find some organization, that will assist me in finding services for my child as well as provide some informational support. That is how I came across TASK. Patti called me after I left a message on the website. She kindly answered all my questions and we had a great conversation. Recently I had to contact her back, because of several questions, concerning my child's IEP. And again I received very thorough reponses to all my questions. Patti also participated in the school IEP meeting, supporting me. She also sent me great resources, concerning my child's condition which I am currently reading.

Mission: Advocacy and educational assistance, including workshops to families with special needs children, as well as providing a four-week summer enrichment program for children with disabilities.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 65 students in Summer Program, 1,200 families and professionals, 12 workshops and presentations
Programs: The task summer enrichment program has provided free summer services to children with disabilities in Tazewell county for the past 42 years. Educational and recreational programs are provided to over 65 children at not cost, including meals, transportation, occupational and speech therapy. TASK assists families with special needs children and adults in southwest virginia by providing information, referrals for needed services, support groups, website, facebook page, special education trainings for families and professionals. Over 1,200 individuals were assisted in the past year.
