Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: To provide transitional housing and other supportive services to improve the quality of life for women who are incarcerated and/or recently released from incarceration.
Programs: Transitional housing and supportive services for women who are incarcerated and/or recently released from incarceration. While 60% of ex-inmates in illinois are re-incarcerated in the first year after their release, 93% of leslie's place residents never return to prison. Their success is due in part to the programs and support that leslie's place provides. Programs include recovery coaching, job placement and interviewing techniques, computer training, parenting and life-skills workshops, and spiritual support/self-esteem seminars. Residents must work or attend school, save 70% of their income and follow the house rules. The women work hard to become responsible and contributing members of society. They earn their second chance.
