Volunteering Oportunities

Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: The mission of Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue is to provide loving care (medical & general) for homeless, abused, and abandoned cats/kittens. We also actively seek a loving forever home for each cat/kitten rescued. In addition, we are dedicated to reducing the feral cat population through our community TNR program. Unless serious illness would warrant, euthanasia is not an option for cats/kittens in the care of Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue.

My friend found two abandoned kittens and Sunshine Farms was the only place willing and able to take them. They placed them in a foster family and adopted them out together.

Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue has a heart of gold. They sponsor clinics with animal friends once a month and they do tons of TNR (Trap/neuter/release) to help keep the cat population under control. Kitten season brought in a ton this year and just about every single kitten has been fixed, fully vaccinated and adopted!

I started volunteering for Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue about 1.5 years ago. They are helpful to volunteers and provide any supplies we might need while fostering cats. I have fostered over 50 cats for the organization. They are welcoming to new volunteers and also support other foster cat groups in the areas.

I just adopted my new kitty Jellybean from Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue and the whole process was great. The person I spoke to on the phone to go over my adoption application, as well as the foster, were both very polite and friendly. The whole process went smoothly and I'm so happy they introduced me to my new kitty.

Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue saved my Stanley’s life! One day last summer, I caught a tiny black kitten with a degloved tail. He was in horrible shape. Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue got him the care he needed as soon as possible. This was not cheap! I honestly was not sure he was going to make it, but Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue put forth every effort possible to save him. I adopted him and he is now my best buddy.

Sean LaFever agreed to take mom and kittens from me last year. Right after I collected them mom started seizing. Sean could have just said good luck and walked away. Instead he met me at PVSEC with formula for bebes while mom went in for evaluation. He spent over 2000$ trying to help her. She had FIP and was dying. He found a bottle feeder for the babies. He is a hero.

Sunshine Farm Cat Rescue is an amazing resource for our community. I live in a very rural area where stray cats can mean feral colonies - quickly.
Sunshine Farm helped me trap a momma cat and her five (!) kittens. Momma was spayed, got her shots and lives here with me. Sunshine Farms took the kittens to socialize and for health checks, happy ending for all!

Sean at SFCR helped me personally when I had 3 cats that were on the list to go to Animal Friends, which is a no- kill shelter so of course it takes time to get in there. One also had breathing problems. Sean set up a series of cat tents so he could pump nebulized air into the tents for the one cat. Then the other two had a room with a TV and lots of things to climb on. I couldnt hold them as I was going away for the winter. Thanks to SFCR those three cats eventually got into the no-kill shelter! On a wider scale, Sean has made SFCR into the most progressive foster based rescue in the county; the number of foster homes have doubled, there are weekly fund raisers, there is a Pet Food Pantry, monthly spay and neuter clinics, a dedicated TNR program, and has 20+ cats that he cares for.
