Mission: Summerville dream is dedicated to improving the quaility of life in summerville, sc by enhancing the aesthetic, cultural, social, and economic aspects of the downtown area, while preserving its historic identity.
Programs: Marketing of historic downtown summervillesince 1992, summerville dream has been involved with the marketing and advertising of historic downtown summerville to locals and tourist alike. Located only 25 minutes from downtown charleston, summerville has its own unique history, locally owned businesses and restaurants, and a variety of activities to entertain and engage our community. Through the use of grants, donations from local businesses and community members, and partnerships with advertisers, we are able to produce and/or take advantage of many marketing/advertising opportunities. Printed brochures, on-line advertising, magazine advertising (that includes an on-line component), social media, and e-mail, and google ad-words campaigns are some of the products that are used. Dream produces the historic downtown summerville map (10k yearly), we partner with the town of summerville in the production of the summerville visitors guide (30k yearly), and we participate in the antiquetrail. Com/south carolina brochure (12 antique stores, a map of summerville, 45k yearly distribution throughout south carolina). Print advertising, that also include an on-line presence, has been highly effective for us. Local advertising (including summerville, charleston and the surrounding areas) includes azalea magazine (15k quarterly distribution + on-line), summerville journal scene, post & courier, and joint base charleston welcome guide (50k printed + on-line). We also advertise to tourists within a 1-3 hour driving distance. This advertising includes palmetto magazine (40k biannual distribution), discover columbia (75k quarterly distribution), essential guide (30k distribution), foodie news-an e-newsletter (10k sent each month) and more. Social media is integral to our marketing efforts. With an active facebook page (almost 9k likes), twitter feed, and instagram, we work to keep our followers informed on dream programs, downtown activities, store and restaurant specials, and events.

enhancement of historic downtown summervillesummerville is known as flowertown in the pines. Dream developed the flower the town campaign 7 years ago to make sure she lives up to her name. 22 flower baskets are hung throughout the historic shopping district. Dream maintains the baskets, changing the seasonal plants twice per year. The dream design committee and local volunteers design and replant the baskets. The town of summerville parks and recreation department makes sure that the baskets are watered, and take the baskets down for replanting and then rehang the baskets. The economic restructuring committee works with downtown merchants to address issues and find solutions. The current project is the development of a fa ade grant program. This program will start by assisting with the cost of awning repair, cleaning and replacement. The goal is for the program to grow in funding and be available for larger projects, such as the redesign and replacement of storefronts.
