Causes: Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention
Mission: The substance awareness center (the "center") is an information and referral organization. The center's primary objective is to educate and to aid in the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.
Programs: Sacirc provides substance abuse and behavioral modification group and individual counseling to youth, adolescents, families, and adults. The council also provides curriculum and lifeskills instruction to every public middle school in indian river county, and after school group counseling for troubled teens. Clients are referred to the sac from schools, the court system, and the department of juvenile justice.
sacirc is fiscal agent for a community coalition called substance abuse free indian river (safir). The purpose is to help promote a substance free community. The coalition puts on a weekly event called friday night done right! For the children in the community.
