Mission: To identify needs and work with communities through out the state to find solutions. The organization works with families of children with special needs from birth to age 26. Statewide services include parent navigation, community resource sharing, information and referral and education to guide families through their journey with medical, special disability, mental health and special education issues.
Programs: Family support - includes providing support to families in need through the short term assistance and referral (star) program and the developmental disability mini-grants program. Star's goal is to avoid or ease crisis situations related to developmental disabilities by connecting families to all available state services. The mini-grant program provides funds to families for services and items not covered by insurance. The organization is alaska's designated family-to-family health information center, providing comprehensive health-related information and resources to families caring for children with special needs and assisting parents in understanding pertinent legislation and government forms.

School support ranges from personally accompanying a parent to an individualized education program (iep) meeting to providing bullying prevention and iep training for parents and professionals
parent navigation - with first-hand knowledge of the programs and services available throughout the community, parent navigators assist families in finding their way through the overwhelming and complex issues that arise when caring for a child with special needs. They identify case-specific information, support, training and resources for each family. Parent navigators attend clef lip and palate clinics held in fairbanks and anchorage that provide multidisciplinary assessment for children with cranio-facial disorders; the organization also receives direct referrals for families with newborns who have failed hearing screenings.
