Causes: Arts & Culture, Performing Arts Centers
Mission: We are a vibrant, inclusive theatre, offering our venue as a community stage, a center for local, regional, and international performers, an experiential learning environment, and a responsive philanthropic space.
Programs: The state theatre opened in december 2006 as a community owned and operated performing arts center. We are located in downtown state college, across the street from penn state university. The state theatre is the only community owned and operated performing arts center in centre county. We just completed our eleventh year of operations on october 31st. Our primary activities and the purpose of the organization has been consistent. We are here to provide a venue for community performing arts groups and individuals. More and more local organizations have begun utilizing the theatre for their events. As stated in our application, we have seen theatrical organizations come of age and book the theatre, local film makers premier their work at the state and other arts organizations grow considerably because they now have a home. We continue to provide cultural experiences by presenting national and international touring artists and international and independent cinema as well.
