St. Vincent charity medical center is home to the renowned spine and orthopedic institute and the center for bariatric surgery. Owned by the sisters of charity health system, st. Vincent charity medical center provides care beyond medicine. Mission:*held our annual martin luther king jr. Celebration, featuring musical and dramatic performances from the civil rights era. *continued partnership with saint ignatius high school to allow sophomore service students to gain meaningful experiences in catholic health care. *recognized 36 caregivers and physicians as guardian angels by patients and visitors who made a monetary gift in their name. *completed our 2016 community health needs assessment, aligned with the state health improvement plan. *partnered with health insurance marketplace navigators with the cuyahoga health access partnership (chap) to host enroll individuals in the health insurance marketplace and the medicaid expansion. *announced a partnership with cleveland state university designed to foster ongoing and expanding collaboration between st. Vincent charity and csu in the areas of research, education and programs. *participated in numerous health fairs and held regular health screenings in the community for blood sugar, blood pressure and education around diabetes. The diabetes program screened 1300 people in 2016; 1,134 were screened over 42 events and 371 received diabetes education at 7 events. Diabetes education support groups served 147 participants over 6 meetings. An additional 579 health screenings at 59 events were conducted in 2016. *provided christmas gifts to the children at william patrick day head start school. *collected books and placed them in the little free libraries located throughout the central neighborhood. *participated as a medical provider in the 2016 republican national convention held in cleveland. *hosted u. S. Surgeon general vadm vivek h. Murthy as part of the obama administration's turn the tide campaign to fight opiate addiction. Dr. Murthy visited rosary hall and then provided a media availability to highlight the need to treat addiction like a disease. Programs and services: *recruited physicians to support the strategic plan in various areas including psychiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery and internal medicine. *joined the mercy health select accountable care organization and clinical integration network in august 2016. Of the $2. 4 million, $1. 4 million is covered by a corf (clean ohio revitalization funds) grant, a state sponsored program that works in conjunction with the city of cleveland, and provides reimbursement for construction costs associated with the physical building demolition and asbestos abatement. *the boiler replacement project was a $1. 5 million dollar project, which included the replacement of one large 1962 boiler with two new smaller and higher efficiency boilers systems with automatic controls. The new boilers provide annual operations and utility savings of $232,000, and a projected 6. 53 year simple payback.
