Mission: The st. Joseph county united way operates for the benefit of, and in connection with other non-profit organizations to promote the social welfare of the county, to encourage cooperation and community planning among the citizens of the county through their civic, benevolent, educational, religious and welfare agencies, to encourage efficiency and economy in all social and character building work, to avoid duplication of effort and expense, to advise in the undertaking of new work by existing agencies and in the formation of new agencies, to create and maintain a fund to be obtained by voluntary contributions, bequests, and other legal means, and to disburse these funds according to the bylaws of the st joseph county united way.
Programs: St. Joseph county united way funds 39 local agencies with hundreds of health and human service programs. The three largest funded agencies are keystone place, domestic and sexual abuse services, and children's trauma assessment group.
