Mission: Spofford provides premier preventative and therapeutic services by connecting child, family and community to achieve their potential
Programs: Residential program - spofford's intensive residential program treats young children, ages 4-12, from missouri and kansas, with severe emotional and behavioral disorders due to childhood trauma, such as sexual, physical or emotional abuse and neglect; or emerging mental illness. Residential treatment is the option utilized when children have difficulty maintaining safety in their own home and community. Spofford's residential treatment provides a safe environment, highly structured care and therapeutic treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Residential treatment is time-limited and treatment focused so the child can return to family and community-based care as soon as possible.
school based case management - spofford created reach to teach to address the needs and provide support for children at-risk for abuse and neglect in the urban public school systems (k-12). Spofford focuses on reaching students before they come to the attention of public systems to increase their support and protective factors, to increase their success in school, home and the community.
parent aid - parent aid is a short-term, goal and outcome oriented service aimed at teaching and modeling safe and appropriate parenting skills to parents whose family is involved with the child welfare system. Parent aid services should be focused towards helping parents attain skills that will allow them to adequately care for their children in the future. This service is provided in the home and/or community.
