Mission: Develop an organization to create a bronze monument by artist r. T. Wallen honoring american indian culture of the great lakes region; inspire community support to erect and sustain the spirit of the rivers.
Programs: We have three programs to our organization. One was to form an organization to support the building and completion of this monument; another is to complete the monument and the other is to raise funds to complete the project. The board of directors was formed in 2011 and set about laying the groundwork for the organization, which has met monthly since its inception. Open houses were held to showcase this extraordinary work.
we also have an education committee that seeks to spread the historical and cultural information the monument inspires. Numerous articles have been written and published in local newspapers and related magazines. Area schools have brought their students to listen to the artist, mr. Wallen, describe the creative process and origin of the monument subject. Students visited throughout the year. Evidence of their visits line the walls in sketches drawn by the students.
