Programs: Camp training / productions: 9 summer camps are held during the summer, staffed with 3+ employees. Camps include large productions. 3 camps with approximately 30 students each are for ages 4 to 7. There are 3 camps with apporx. 41 students each for ages 7 to 12. There is one teen camp for ages 12 to 19 with about 35 students. All of the above are musical theatre camps and include the full experience of a full-length show with costumes, lights, audiences and multiple performances. There are 2 acting camps for ages 10 & up with apporx 15 to 20 students each that produce a straight play (non-musical). In addition, we offer approximately 6 week-long mini camps throughout the year for ages 7-12 with approx 8 to 15 kids in each camp. They too perform at the end of the week-long session. We do one large-scale show a year, it is an audition-only show. Students prep for 4 months and the show is produced on the main stage of the facility. Approx 40 students are involved in performing over 18 shows for a paying audience. Approx 1800 to 2000 public see this production. High production values are used in the production with professional grade sets, lighting and costumes. We also use this opportunity to do most of our scholarship fundraising for the year with donations during the run of the production.
classes / lessons / special events: we offer lessons and group classes in music / theatre / dance at our facilities year-round. Spindrift dance company is a year-round dance company and is comprised of 3 levels of expertise: beginning, intermediate and advanced. There are approximately 12 students in each level, with approx 23 in the fall training and 35 students in the winter/spring company. These students train 4 hours a week during the winter/spring session and 2 hours in the fall prep session. Most students also take supplementary dance classes.
outreach programs and in-school/after-school programs: after-school program - we teach after-school classes at every elementary school in pacifica and 2 in daly city (cabrillo, vallemar, ocean shore, sunset ridge, ortega, ibl, panorama & hillsdale). Classes include hip-hop, musical theatre, glee, acting, jazz & ballet. We teach in 2 to 3 preschools during the mornings as well, creative movement and dance to ages 2 to 4. These classes are all optional and are paid for by parents wishing their children to participate in afterschool enrichment. Each class ranges from 5 to 20 students. We produce 3 dance recitals per year after every session that all the outreach as well as our in-house programs participate in, with 2 performances per recital. In-school - we do a year-round grant-funded program for oceana high school dancers which is free to the students. Students train after school for 3 hours a week all year and join our dance company students in their final dance concert at the end of the year. Sunset ridge - we do 2 free programs, half a year each at sunset ridge. Half the year is k-2, the other half is grades 3-5. Approx 35 students participate in each session. The workshops meet once a week on that school's early out day to rehearse and at the end a show is produced with sets, lights and costumes for the shcool and another show for the parents. Ingrid b lacy middle school - we do a free class of the school's choosing, a 10-week session of hip-hop or another style of dance or we help with their talent show. Attendance varies. The above "free" programs are funded either by donors or by us and in exchange we receive the use of schools, both elementary and high schhol spaces, for our summer programs. Cabrillo - we teach drama year-round, grades 5-8 each do a production that is rehearsed for during school hours as part of their arts curriculum. These productions are then performed both at assembly for the school and in the evenings for families and the public. There is an sspa instructor teaching all four grades once a week. The 5th grade receives training all year to prepare for the performances. This activity is funded by the school pto. There are approximately 30 students for the 6th - 8th graders and 60 for the 5th graders.
