Mission: Southwest transplant alliance, inc. (sta) is a texas not for profit corporation that is recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and is also classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(2) of the internal revenue code. Southwest transplant alliance is an organ donation agency, and has an agreement with the federal government's department of health and human services to function as the organ procurement organization (opo) for approximately 37% of the state of texas. As an opo, sta has agreements with all of the hospitals in our service area to recover and distribute donated human organs and tissues for transplantation in texas and throughout the united states. Southwest transplant alliance's mission is to save and improve lives through organ and tissue transplantation.
