Programs: Launch of "welcome home," the newest exhibit at our "birthplace of seattle" log house museum. The exhibit focuses on the physical and conceptual idea of home on the duwamish peninsula. The exhibit, funded in part by a culture grant, has three major themes: (1) house as home, (2) the social context of home, and (3) "home is where the heart is," in other words, why people love their homes. Completion of the west seattle junction historical survey, which professionally researched and ranked 58 buildings in the west seattle junction business district for their landmark eligibility. Funded in part by a 4culture grant, the project also interviewed property owners and conducted a citizen survey. Execution of the 2016 "if these walls could talk" home tour of the kenney, the continuing-care facility that opened in 1909. The tour featured extensive presentations on the history of the property, the buildings and their residents and provided opportunities to tour and learn about this west seattle institution.
