Bridges MAYO is truly an exceptional organization. It provides a wide variety of diverse experiences to students and young musicians. I have never seen another youth orchestra be so diverse and collaborative in its efforts to teach young musicians about music from around the world in authentic and exciting ways. Anyone who is interested in working with this organization absolutely should. It deserves to grow and thrive to the fullest extent possible!

I get to work with SIYS (aka Bridges MAYO) and have a child in the youth orchestra. She's made really great friends and is excited to playing with musicians from all over the community. The conductors are wonderful and the board president and other members volunteer their expertise and hours to help the kids.

SIYS offers several programs under the name Musical Arts Youth Orchestra (MAYO) in Bloomington, Indiana and the south Central Indiana region.

MAYO is an outlet for young musicians to experience a higher level of music education than what might be provided at their local schools, or for students who do not have music ensembles available at their school.

MAYO offers opportunities for underserved populations to learn more about music.

MAYO students have the opportunity to compete for a solo performance with the orchestra, joining a tour, meeting students that come from diverse backgrounds, and making connections with students their ages who have similar interests.
