Mission: Dedicated to the rescue, care, and welfare of horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules The Southern Colorado Horse Rescue and Adoption,inc. rescues neglected and abused horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules and accepts some donated equines from owners who no longer want them or can care for them. The SCHRA provides any necessary veterinary, farrier and rehabilitative care and then places these animals in caring homes. SCHRA maintains a connection with each animal after adoption through the use of a comprehensive follow-up program designed to ensure that each horse continues to receive proper care. The SCHRA promises a life-long commitment to every equine taken under it's protection. SCHRA works with officials in legislative and enforcement areas to ensure prompt recognition and response in cases of neglect and abuse. SCHRA also reaches out to the community through education by participating in and conducting classes and clinics in proper horse care and management. SCHRA considers its efforts a sacred obligation and recognizes benevolent people joining together to bring a new consciousness to the issue of animal abuse, by bringing light into darkness, for the benefit of our equine companions, by their hard work, time, and generous support.
