Our Vision: Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams. Our Mission: Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. We are investing in Dreams.

Soroptimist International of Ogden, UT (SIO) was chartered on 27 May 1939 by Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA), a 501c3 charitable organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Since 1921, SIA has grown to about 1,300 clubs in 21 countries and territories throughout the world. We have been recognized as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) with a permanent seat at the United Nations.

The SIO service area is women living in Cache, Box Elder, Weber, Morgan and northern Davis counties. Our focus is helping women achieve economic empowerment through education. We have given the Live Your Dream Award since 1972, to more than one hundred women for well over $80,000. We will continue to give the award annually as it is the major element of our organization's Dream Program. We are recognized by SIA for outstanding management of our program. In our 80th year, we received the Mattie Wattis Harris Rose Award for Volunteer Organizations from Your Community Connection and we were honored by the Ogden City Council in 2019 for continued excellence in supporting the residents of Ogden, Utah.

I have been a member of Soroptimist of Ogden since 1999. Every year I value this organization more. I am so proud of the work we do locally and beyond to support women and girls. Our Live Your Dream Education and Training program is nationally recognized and locally provides funding for women who are sole source of income for their families who are working to improve their lives through education or training programs. I am so proud of these women who are struggling to stay in school and achieve their dreams and I am proud of our organization that is helping them. Because I believe in this organization, I volunteer each year to work with the amazing women in Soroptimist of Ogden to continue our support to other women.

Soroptimist is an amazing organization where we are able to help young women get a second chance of going back to school and becoming successful with obtaining their degree. It’s so very rewarding to see these young women receive these scholarships and tell us their stories about their lives and how they want to go back to school and finish getting their degree and how much it means to them. Knowing we are helping them do this is why I’m a member of this great team of women that also feel the same way I do.

I joined SIO in late 2016 after meeting them at the Ogden Farmers Market where they had a booth decorating dignity dresses as part of a joint project with a local Girl Scout troop. Their mission of helping women improve their economic stability through support and education is what attracted me and made me want to find out more. I have seen multiple women receive grants and awards to support their educational goals that they may not have otherwise been able to continue. The primary portion I have been a part of is the Dream It Be It program targeted to junior high and high school girls to inspire them to follow their educational and career goals. Since I have a full-time job, a 2 hour commute, and 2 kids, I am fortunate that I have found a club that understands my time constraints and asks me to do only what I can do and the other members are understanding. This club has also helped my kids understand the importance of serving others.

I joined this local group of amazing women in July of 2018. Little did I know that the decision to become a member would be one of the best decisions of my life. Our mission, goals, community service projects, education, and impact have a reach that helps women and girls in our community but also those around the world. The friendships and relationships made in this group will last a lifetime and I am thrilled that I get to serve alongside these amazing Soroptimist women.
I have had an opportunity to serve on committees and with programs that I choose. I appreciate that members can choose what they wish to participate with and there isn't any pressure.... only encouragement to put your talents and interests to work for the whole of the group.
I've been a part of other non-profits throughout my career and Soroptimist International of Ogden is where I devote my focus.
Some of the programs and projects I am most passionate about are the Live Your Dream Award, Dream it, Be it, our stockings for the children at Christmas time that are living in the local homeless shelter, the backpacks and school supplies for the children living in an orphanage in Haiti, Ogden Street clean up, and Well Baby.
To be able to make a difference in women and girls lives, as well as the friendships that have evolved from my participation.. have far exceeded my expectations. If I can answer any questions for you, you're welcome to email me at employmentmatchmaker@gmail.com. We would love for you to come join us.

I joined Soroptimist of OGDEN because I wanted to get involved in helping women to achieve their Dreams. Not only does this club help locally , but nationally , and world wide. It affords a women to not only grow and achieve her own personal dreams and goals but it is a beautiful way to work with other women whom share your same interest and goals. As a member of this club, I have grown and learned and achieved so many things and talents that I never knew I had. With that experience I not only help other women in my community but I grow personally. I
The beautiful women who have recieve awards from us to help them finish their chosen paths of carreer and education have in fact given back to many.
One of our winners needed to finish her education in Xray, I ran into her later and told her about my bad back, she recommeded a great doctor. When I was in Hosptial, she came and thanked me for the help we gave her? I thanked her for finnishing and helping me. Soroptimist is truly a win win. Susan Dewey

I have been a member of Soroptimist of Ogden since 2017 and it has been a life-changing experience to work alongside other women in my community who are also passionate about helping women and girls achieve economic empowerment. I have especially enjoyed helping assemble the after-care kits for the women leaving shelters and moving out into their own new place. Soroptimists support local causes that help women but is also a global organization and that means everywhere you go, you can find a Soroptimist club. If you're local to Ogden, I encourage you to seek out Soroptimist of Ogden, but if you're somewhere else, google your local Soroptimist club. I promise they are out there passionately serving women in your community and would love your help!
