Mission: To protect, shelter and promote the adoption of homeless animals; to provide education about responsible pet ownership and to reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs.
Programs: Sheltering and adoption: the spca is a limited-admission, no-kill organization committed to providing quality care, compassion and a second chance with a loving family to thousands of homeless pets in wake and surrounding counties. The spca provides shelter, safety, behavior support, medical care and adoption services to approximately 3,300 homeless pets each year.
spay/neuter: a core mission of the spca is to reduce the number of homeless animals in our community by providing spay/neuter services in and around wake county. The spca's saving lives spay/neuter clinic prevents future animal suffering by sterilizing more than 6,500 animals each year. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption from the spca of wake county.
community outreach program: the spca's community outreach program is comprised of a cluster of services that strive to help animals by helping the people who care for them. The animeals program provides home delivery of pet food to people with disabilities and home-bound seniors. The spca's behavior outreach helps pet owners experiencing behavior problems with their pets by providing training and other positive, reward-based solutions. The humane education program promotes responsible pet care, compassion and respect for all living things to children and adults.
