Mission: To transform the lives of pets and people through protection, care, education and adoption.
Programs: Sheltering and adoption: the spca is a managed-admission, no-kill organization committed to providing quality care, compassion and a second chance with a loving family to thousands of homeless pets in wake and surrounding counties. In 2016, the spca took in nearly 3,500 homeless pets in need and provided shelter, safety, behavior support, medical care and adoption services.
spay/neuter: a core mission of the spca is to reduce the number of homeless animals in our community by providing spay/neuter services in and around wake county. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption from the spca of wake county. In 2016, close to 6,000 animals received spay/neuter surgery through programs provided by the spca.
community outreach program: the spca's community outreach program is comprised of a cluster of services that strive to help animals by helping the people who care for them. The animeals program helps keep beloved pets in their homes by providing delivery of pet food to people with disabilities and home-bound seniors. The spca's behavior outreach helps pet owners experiencing behavior problems with their pets by providing training and other positive, reward-based solutions. The humane education program promotes responsible pet care, compassion and respect for all living things to children and adults.
