Causes: Religion, Religion-Related, Roman Catholic
Mission: We, Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, are a community of Catholic women religious committed to living and transmitting the message of Jesus Christ through prayer and service. In the tradition of our foundress Nano Nagle, we seek to promote a society which respects the dignity of all persons with emphasis on compassion and justice for the poor and oppressed.
Programs: The Sisters of the Presentation are involved through the ministries of our sisters in working with the elderly, immigrants, children, marginalized women, as well as nursing, education at elementary, high school, and college levels. We also have sisters who are missionaries in Central America. One important, sponsored program is the Learning and Loving Education Center. It is an educational opportunity to provide skills, hope and direction for low-income minority women and their children to improve their quality of life and prospects for the future. Its mission is realized through education within the following areas: literacy, English, computer skills training, access to the Internet, job training, health, nutrition, and home budgeting classes and for the children, literacy and kindergarten readiness.
