Mission: Our mission at Shower Our Spirit is to fund medical causes that affect women and children worldwide. Focused causes are those that have been neglected by the mainstream media and medical communities. Generally, this neglect reflects the nature of the cause, politics of competing causes, the locales affected, or the longevity of the disease. When a medical cause greatly affects the quality of life of women and children, affecting not only health, but social and economic arenas, Shower Our Spirit enters to bring healing funds. Our pilot program, Africa's Child, will fund malaria. We chose malaria because it is the most devastating parasitic disease in the world. Every 20 seconds a child dies from malaria. First time pregnant women infected with malaria suffer low birth rate babies, miscarriages, stillbirths and death. Children under five years of age frequently die from malaria. Shower Our Spirit hopes to enlist contributions for treatment and research not only of malaria, but any other neglected medical cause that necessitates global healing.
Programs: Our current program, "Africa's Child", is designed to raise funds for malaria treatment and research. This program funds Med Biotech Laboratory in Uganda, Africa. Med Tech Laboratory, or MBL, is an emerging center for excellence in field treatment and biomedical research as well as vaccine research/development in malaria. MBL is comprised of several internationally recognized scientists, doctors and staff in malaria research, whose goals are novel drug discoveries, parasitic research, and vaccine candidates.
