Mission: The primary goal of shattuck partners is to suport and provide programs that improve the quality of life of patients at the lemuel shattuck hospital located in jamaica plain, massachusetts. Shattuck partners collaborates with the lemuel shattuck hospital staff to identify high-priority patient-focused needs that the hospital is unable to meet, and raises funds to meet those needs. Shattuck partners steps in by providing or funding supplemental programs for patients including vocational rehabilitation programs, recreational activities and supplies, arts programming, therapeutic items and personal necessities.
Programs: Shattuck partners funds and provides programs and services that improve the quality of life for patients at the lemuel shattuck hospital and support healthy and successful transitions back to the community. Programs and services supported by shattuck partners include art programs, vocational rehabilitation, recreational programs and therapeutic support. In 2017, there were more than 230 patient sign-ins to the open mic program, more than 100 patient sign-ins to the poetry and songwriting programs, and more than 350 patient sign-ins to the popular friday flicks program. Items and equipment that support relaxation and self-soothing continued to be offered to patients on the mental health units up to 75 times per week to promote life-long coping skills and to create a safer environment for patients and those working with them. Special supplies and refreshments serving as treatment enablers and therapeutic aides were provided for therapeutic groups on the public health units, and approximately 2000 patient sign-ins were recorded for these programs. Treatment incentives/enablers continued to be provided for tb patients facing complex medical and life challenges. Transportation and food assistance for tb outpatients also continued in order to facilitate their ongoing treatment.
