They are wonderful! Incredibly responsive and respectful. All the dogs are well cared for, exercised, and loved. Plus they have an amazing network of volunteers that include trainers.
My family had a wonderful experience adopting our furever dog from Shari’s Shepherds. The staff was very knowledgeable and spent the time to make sure that we had everything needed to adopt our little guy. The entire process was seemless and the organization was very professional!
I lost my dog a year ago last Thanksgiving and swore I’d never get another. After a year, I missed having a dog, so I thought that perhaps I’d foster. My first attempt with an animal shelter came to nothing, but I kept looking. I came upon Shari’s Shepherd Sanctuary, and there I found Walter. He was just what I was looking for - housebroken, laid back, loves to walk. No, I didn’t foster him, I adopted him. Shari’s did a virtual home visit with me and I got the green light. I couldn’t be happier. They take very good care of their lost shepherds and make sure they get good homes. It’s a wonderful place.
Shari pulled our Shepherd from Lied after one 4th of July. He is a beautiful black shepherd (maybe mixed with collie) but then, at less than 2 years old, he was not adoptable because he was terrified and fearful. But Shari knew he was a great dog that just needed some love and she was RIGHT! We were patient with him and helped him learn to trust us. And after having owned three other GSDs, I can emphatically say that "Remington" is the BEST dog we've ever had! We even compete in agility competitions. Thanks Shari!
From the initial phone call to the day I drove away with my new fur baby, the volunteers at Shari's Shepherd Sanctuary showed passion, caring, kindness and just plain LOVE for the work they do and the animals in their care. Overwhelmed with the good work this organization does in saving dogs.
I adopted Roman from Shari's rescue, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Roman came to me as a timid young dog, but under my care and with Shari's careful matchmaking, he has flourished into a lifelong companion. Shari knew my current dog, Charlie, and believed that Roman and I would be a great fit. After a careful evaluation, she allowed me to bring Roman home, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm incredibly grateful to Shari for her dedication and the care she puts into finding the right homes for these dogs.
The volunteers here are like no other. Willing to go above and beyond for these babies looking for the forever homes. These dogs are treated like they are owned by the volunteers and are shown so much love. The work the volunteers put in to make sure they are also improving while in the care of us to be prepared for a forever home, makes such a difference. I am proud to be a part of this group, and look forward to see how we grow.
Shari's Shepherd Sanctuary is by far the best shepherd rescue that I've come across. The pure dedication to these magnificent animals goes above and beyond. Shari makes sure that these shepherds are well taken care of and in a safe environment. Each dog is treated like a family member
& loved by all, this is proven by the quick adjustment to their surroundings that the shepherds make once they have arrived at the facility. I have rescued and volunteered at other facilities, this is absolutely my favorite....due to their commitment and care of the wonderful shepherds.
The volunteers at Shari's Shepherd Rescue truly care and are passionate about the German Shepherd breed. They execute great diligence in evaluating the dogs to get them placed with the right families so they can have a lifetime of love that they deserve. All the dogs are loved by a myriad of volunteers and fosters till their forever homes are found. I can't say enough about how impressive the volunteers with Shari's Shepherd Rescue are and how much they go above and beyond to keep these dogs safe and loved until their forever homes are found.
We recently adopted our little Annie from Shari's Shepherd Rescue. All of the volunteers and Shari are a blessing to these pups. We are so happy with our experience and the love and care they showed us and our pups during the adoption process. We highly recommend this rescue.
We adopted Raven, A.K.A. Calamity Jane, and what a joy! She was well taken care of and the wonderful women of this rescue was at our side every step of the way throughout the entire process! We are in love with this precious pet and will definitely adopt from Shari's rescue when we are ready for another baby!
Shari’s Shepherd Sanctuary is committed to helping German Shepherds find a loving and forever home. The rescue takes steps to try to ensure each dog is placed in a safe environment. I fostered for Shari’s Shepherd Sanctuary and the rescue was so supportive during the time I fostered a German Shepherd for their rescue. This rescue really puts the dogs first and it shows. Every volunteer shows such patience, love and commitment to these dogs. I cannot express enough how wonderful this rescue is.
We found Shari's Shepherd Sanctuary in January. We had lost our last Shepherd the previous March. We had had him for 11 years and wanted another Shepherd as they are such great dogs. As I said we found Shari's and I was really impressed. They totally vetted us. We were interested in one dog but then when we went to go see her we had found a different one that suited our needs much better. They matched us to the perfect dog and we couldn't be happier. The volunteers truly love what they do and love all the dogs there. I love the Facebook updates with the adoptions. I would love to see every dog in there furever home.
I found Shari's Shepherd Sanctuary (GSD Rescue) online after my German Shepherd Edgar passed away from cancer in May 2024. Not only did the rescue have several beautiful dogs available for adoption that I thought might be a good fit for my family, I thought I might like to volunteer with the group.
I completed the online adoption application, which was thorough but not overbearing - and I mentioned that I was interested in volunteering as well. I received a nice email reply immediately and we set up a time for me to go meet the leaders of the group and some of the available dogs. Everyone was super friendly, and they explained how their nonprofit operates (etc). I felt welcomed and "at home" right away, and I knew this was a group that I would want to support - not only by adopting a Shepherd from them - but by volunteering my time to help them help more GSDs in need.
The rescue had a straightforward adoption process and made sure that we could carefully introduce "Goose" to our current dog Asher on neutral territory first, and allow the dogs to get to know each other a bit. Everything went well and we officially adopted Goose in early June 2024; he is a gem and we love him so much!
The rescue volunteers made the process easy and kept in close contact, to answer any questions we might have and help Goose settle in with our family. And in the following weeks I started volunteering with the group and have been very impressed with their dedication and devotion to this wonderful breed. They are an enthusiastic, kind bunch of humans that I'm now pleased to call my friends.
I recently adopted my 3rd GSD, Max. Shari and her team are some of the most dedicated and passionate rescuers I have had the pleasure to know.
I follow them closely on social media and on their website. Reading the success stories touch my heart. When I knew it was time to welcome one more to my pack, I saw a post about Max and knew he was the one.
Shari makes the process of adopting such a joy. From initial contact, to the screening process, to the meet and greet, to follow up vet visits. Everything is handled with the utmost caring and love.
My pack of 4 ( theres a chihuahua in the mix ) is complete and everyone is getting along really well.
Thanks to Shari and her team for another amazing addition to my fur family.
We lost our male GSD in December 2023 to cancer and in February 2024, we felt our female GSD was ready for a new family member. Reached out to Shari's Shepherd Sanctuary for potential candidates. We made arrangements to meet 3 male GSD and our female chose her brother. His name is now Ryker and he loves ball! The rescue is available for any questions or concerns we have and we love sharing updates to share how much his outlook has improved in his forever home.
