This center has an array of modalities that the clients can experience in order to help them in any and every way possible. At Serenity, the patients are always a part of their own treatment teams decisions for what will work best for their lives in order to develop as a person and create happiness. In addition, the staff is passionate about their work, welcoming to all, and truly wants each patient to positively progress in their life.
I've been meeting with Dr. Mednick at Serenity this year. This is by far one of the best decisions I've made for myself in a very long time. My mental health as a U.S. Marine Corps vet has been nothing less than outstanding. I highly recommend seeing the staff here. The benefits of Serenity is truly indescribable. Amazing environment, kind and caring staff, great attention to your wellness, and a place where you feel safe.
Serenity is set in the quiet, beautiful hills of Malibu making it a joy to come to everyday. The way the services are set up, with multiple session for the client daily, provides an ideal space for clients to dig deep into their lives and be able to expedite the healing process. The practitioners here, and modalities, are cutting edge - from brain spotting, to EMDR, to neurofeedback, somatic therapy, CBT, movement, and massage. It is unique in the fact that it is an ideal way to approach trauma healing, from the perspective of the mind and the body, the conscious and the subconscious. Trauma and memory are stored in our bodies and so I believe that both cognitive and somatic therapy is the quickest and most gentle way to release from old painful stories and help create lives in which people feel free, connected to their authentic selves, and can experience happiness and wholeness. I would highly recommend this place and the practitioners to anyone who is need of clearing trauma that doesn't serve them in their lives or their futures. It's a safe and stable place to heal with people who care about their work, others, and making our worlds a better, kinder place where people have more choice, freedom, and possibility.

The team is able to alleviate the symptoms of trauma from every angle with multiple modalities of one on one intensive out patient treatment. They are in the business of improving the quality of peoples lives, and in doing so, helping them to lead accomplished, tranquil and joy filled lives they had not previously known without the right set of therapy tools for processing past trauma. At Serenity Trauma Center they respect the bravery of the individual for addressing their own trauma, therefore validating clients and making clients feel safe and in the presence of compassionate excellence. I highly recommend Serenity Trauma Center to anyone experiencing trauma now or in the past.
A truly wonderful place. From their caring staff, to their relaxing environment - I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for treatment.
I am proud to be part of the professional staff at Serenity Trauma Foundation. The center is deeply committed to helping trauma survivors heal through a combination of highly effective modalities. Dr. Joanne Mednick has created a warm and inclusive environment where the work I do as a Nia movement teacher is valued and encouraged. I would highly recommend Serenity for anyone seeking effective healing techniques that work.
Serenity Foundation offers a comprehensive program in cutting edge somatic treatment for PTSD. I know of no other program with this innovative focus. Working with the Serenity professionals, each with their particular training and perspective, give clients options in custom designing a treatment package that meets their individual needs.
I’ve had the honor and privledge of teaching yoga at Serenity Trauma & Healing Center for over 2 years. Witnessing and being a part of the transformative healing experience the center can provide in a matter of weeks is beyond exciting, it’s inspirational. On a week to week basis I see patients bravely taking on deeply rooted past traumas, addiction issues, and shame with the support of a gamet of different therapy modalities, fully emerging from their treatment plans with a strong, healthy and beautiful rediscovery of self. I believe in this work wholeheartedly, and only wish that more people in pain had access to the what Serenity has to offer.
I can't express my gratitude to the staff at Serenity for turning my life around. I suffered from PTSD, depression, insomnia and alcoholism. I was abused sexually and mentally from an early age. But at Serenity I learned how to process my feelings and deal with my emotions in a healthy and productive way. It was like I had a giant do over button! I went there with the mindset of giving 100%. Therapy hadn't worked in the past for me because of two reasons-not the correct therapy for my issues and my lack of participation. At Serenity I received multiple styles of therapy and support , which allowed me to fully heal and move forward in my life. I still have challenges in my life as we all do, but I use the tools I learned at Serenity to keep me moving forward and seeing life from a healthy perspective. Thank you for helping me heal and live a life with meaning.
I heard of Serenity through a close friend who worked there. I am a Viet Nam war vet who had been diagnosed with PTSD. I was in the VA system and being treated by mood altering drugs and sleep medication. Dr Joanne Mednick offered me free treatment and I completed a vigorous and comprehensive 3 week program. I was seen by over five clinicians who were all committed to helping me to learn tools and procedures to deal with my trauma, anxiety and depression and sleep issues. I found this entire program to be amazing! I continue using these innovative treatments to not only deal with the symptoms when they rear their ugly head, but to enjoy a much more normal and fulfilling life. In my opinion, every person, veterab, law enforcement professional or victim diagnosed with PTSD should utilize the treatments offered bt Serenity Trauma Healing Center! It could save your life like it did mine.
Previous Stories
In 1989, I was sexually assaulted while on duty in the Army. From 1997 to 2017, I actively and consistently sought treatment at VA Hopsitals throughout the country. The only type of therapy offered by the VA is Cognitive Processing Therapy. The only thing that accomplished was re-traumatizing me which ended with me being placed on psychiatric wards. The VA's other solution was a cocktail of anti psychoitics and anti depression medication. After only two weeks at the Serenity, I had the most profound realizations and insight surrounding the traumatic experience that led to my beliefs and behaviors that I developed over those 28 years. I would highly recommend Serenity Trauma to anyone regardless of the type of trauma they experienced.
Serenity Trama Center has completely changed the quality of my life.
I struggle with PTSD and depression as a result of childhood abuse and my military service. I participated in traditional talk therapy on and off since I was 16. When that didn’t help I turned to drugs and alcohol.
Last year I decided to get clean and shortly after that was introduced to Serenity Trama Center. The therapists were so kind and I felt like they really understood me. The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable and by far the best group of therapists that I’ve ever worked with and the only ones who have made a lasting impact.
After 30 years of stuffing down all my emotions, I started learning how to process them, feel them and let them go. I used to go through life replaying the traumatic experiences I had been through over and over in my mind. It was never ending and it was unbarable. I felt like my brain was just a jumble of horrible memories and pictures that would play over and over again in an endless loop. With Brainspotting and Somatic experiencing I felt like I was able to catalog all the memories and put them on a shelf in the back of my mind. They’ll will always be there, but at least now I hardly ever think about them and they don’t hold the same emotional charge that they used to. I am finally able to enjoy the present moment instead of always thinking about the past. I am finally happy and at peace with my past and myself.
I am forever grateful to Serenity for completely changing my life. I would recommend Serenity Trama Center to anyone who has gone though any sort of Trama. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
I will be forever grateful to Serenity Trauma Foundation for inspiring me and helping become the best version of myself. They have been instrumental in giving me the tools to make enlightened life choices for my family and I.
I will always recommend them to family and friends.
I'm a survivor of Military Sexual Trauma, I suffer with Anxiety, Depression and PTSD which include nightmares and flashbacks of my trauma. It's been a couple of years since attending Serenity but, I still use the techniques that Joanne Mednick and the other therapists taught me. I apply my skills and ACT therapies of life and the VA to be as mindful as I possibly can. I'd love to see more survivors utilize this program because it was truly life altering!
