Mission: Founded in 1973 in the heart of East Los Angeles, Self Help Graphics and Art is dedicated to the production, interpretation and distribution of prints and other art media by Chicana/o and Latina/o artists. Our multi-disciplinary, inter-generational programs promote artistic excellence and empower our community by providing access to space, tools, training and capital.
Target demographics: Self Help Graphics’ vision is to be the pre-eminent center for Latino art in printmaking, exhibition and training, and to be a resource for young and emerging artists.

Programs: Professional Printmaking Program (PPP): PPP is the artistic foundation of the organization and has produced over 1,000 fine art serigraph editions including 51 ateliers of silkscreen prints by a number of local and visiting artists. Youth and Family Programs: serving local youth and families through Community Art Workshops and S.O.Y (Summer of Youth) Artista Program Barrio Mobile Art Studio (BMAS): Barrio Mobile Art Studio (BMAS) takes art creation to the streets with arts programming that features both youth and multi-generational workshops and serves to nurture emerging artists and present Latino art to a broader audience. Open to the Public Art Workshops: providing local community members and artists with the opportunity to develop professional experience while experimenting with a variety of techniques and print mediums Culturally Relevant Events: include our annual Dia de los Muertos event which gathers thousands every year to celebrate this unique Mexican holiday with free art workshops for children in anticipation of the celebration.
